I saw a tv show from the early 1980's about journalism. Inside the show was a discussion about how to publish books. A very young Morrissey talked about a book he was writing on a phenomenal new band called New York Dolls. He also talked about one he was writing about girl groups. The show was cable access, and looks like it was made for a school from Boston or New York. I wasn't able to tape it, but its a neat artifact!

  • "phenomenal new band called New York Dolls" in the early 80's?
the NYD started their career in '72 or '73, so this sounds really strange...

  • For those who didn't know, Morrissey have written "The New York Dolls," published by Babylon Books in 1981.

It was re-issued years later in 1995 and sold for $16.99.

I think it was the book "Exit Smiling" that Morrissey issued a statement urging fans not to buy it, when Babylon Books first published it in 1998 (originally written by Morrissey after his other two books "James Dean is Not Dead" and "the New York Dolls").

  • moz might want to think of writing a book (any ol' topic would do) and get oprah to put her seal of approval on it. after that, he'd never be without a record company.

while were on the topic, some here speak of his star 'having faded', which is another way of saying he's not as popular anymore. remember 'Fame fame fatal fame'?

we can all look forward to the day very soon when broccoli spears' offerings will be collecting dust in the $5.95 bin.

really, what difference does that make as long as he's recording great music (yes, i know nothing stellar produced after 'vauxhall')...but still
