Belligerent Ghoul

Hall of Famer
All over this town
They pull over in their Citroen vans
Not to shake your hands
With Meths on their breaths
And you with youth on your side
Oh no, no, no-no, waiting at the lights
But not this time

Dagenham Dave

I love Karen, I love Sharon
on the window screen

Tough choice, but it doesn't get any better than this really:

Park the car at the side of the road
you should know
time's tide will smother you
and I will too....

...It was dark as I drove the point home
and on cold leather seats
well, it suddenly struck me
I just might die with a smile on my
face after all

You've got everything now -

I don't want a lover I just want to be seen, in the back of your car,
A friendship sadly lost, well this is true and yet it's false.

But did I ever tell you, by the way?
I never did like your face....

You are your mother's only son
And you're a desperate one, oh

But I don't want a lover
I just want to be tied,
To the back of your car

That trumps the lot for me, could do a poll on lyrics just from this song!

Edit: and the best lyric of all and one of morrissey's greatest ever lines, "I've seen you smile but I've never really heard you laugh"

Has to be....

Driving in your car
Oh please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their home
And I'm welcome no more

I mean, this is just BRILLIANT.

Why pamper life's complexity
When the leather runs smooth
On the passenger seat

Third-ed. But what is your second favorite?

I could've voted for at least 6 or 7 songs in this poll as my favorite! I went with Break Up the Family because I feel like it gets forgotten but it's so, so good. I'll give 2nd and 3rd place to Late Night, Maudlin Street and Driving Your Girlfriend Home. I associate both with being in the car as a passenger, looking out the window…with a silent driver.
