J K Rowling's Robert Galbraith novels are extremely good

Joanne Rowling has created two great characters in these novels.

Has anyone here read them?

Joanne, if that's you, I know times must be hard since you've been cancelled, but there are probably better ways of drumming up a few sales, no?

"cancelled"

What a load of nonsense.

J K Rowling's Harry Potter series has been on The New York Times Best Sellers list for 621 weeks. That's over 11 years. It's currently at Number 3:

The Ickabog is at Number 2:

Robin Venetia Ellacott born on 9 October 1984

John Lennon was born 9 October.

She wrote this while reviewing the Violent Femmes album:

"I’m not quite sure how the Violent Femmes passed me by. I turned 18 the year this album came out, but I was obsessed with The Beatles at the time. Of contemporary bands I really loved, the standouts were the Smiths and the Psychedelic Furs. I loved any band with a great guitarist. I played guitar myself, mostly alone in my bedroom."

As well as giving Robin Ellacott the same birthday as John Lennon, J K Rowling has mentioned The Beatles, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Fab Four, several times in her Strike novels. She's even mentioned the Beatles Coffee Shop.

Cormoran Blue Strike was born on 23 November 1974

Anyone know a musician/guitarist born on this date?

I thought it could be Mary Ann Evans/George Elliot as J K Rowling/Robert Galbraith. Mary Anne Evans was born on 22 November. Close!

Ok.

23 November - Cormoran Strikes DoB.

No luck finding a connection to that date.

I've checked the DoB of the following:

DoB of Joanne Rowling's family members that are available via a quick Google search. Includes husband.

The Beatles - All band members - From here on, * denotes all band members
Yoko Ono - I thought, if Robin was born on the same day as Lennon... No joy!
Blue Oyster Cult *
The Smiths *
The Psychedelic Furs *
The Stranglers *
Bob Dylan
Jimi Hendrix
Neil Young
The Pixies *
The Cure *

Various writers.

I read that her favourite is Jane Austen. Born 16 December 1775. So no.

Maybe a character created by Jane Austen?

Any ideas???

Bowie
Mick Ronson
Lou Reed
George Martin

Margaret Eleanor Atwood - 18 November 1939

Pretty close!

Stephen King - 21 September 1947
Charles Dickens - 7 February 1812

Can't find a DoB for Edgar Allen Poe's detective, Le Chevalier C. Auguste Dupin.

Edgar Allen Poe was born 19 January 1809.

Arthur Conan Doyle didn't date Sherlock's DoB.

Dr. John H. Watson was born on 7 July.

Richard Burton born 10 November 1925.

Man! Richard Burton would've been perfect to play Cormoran Strike. f***!

Why has J K Rowling given Robin such a specific birthday but not Cormoran?

We know she was obsessed with The Beatles, so giving Robin the same DoB as Lennon figures. Yet Cormoran's DoB seems arbitrary.

There's a theory that Hermione was the main character in the Harry Potter novels and not Harry. She was the smartest.

I think that may be the case with the Strike novels.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens/Mark Twain born 30 November 1835.

Close, but not close enough!

Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads) born November 22, 1950.

Pretty close!
