You lefty socialist types with your anti BNP marches are so cute, why do you make a big thing out of something that 99% of the rest of the politcal spectrum agree with you about? There's dodgy lending practises, housing costs etc etc to worry about at the current moment in time but OH NO BNP WINNIN LANCASTRIAN BACKWATER TOWN MARCH! MARCH!

I hate Billy Bragg, too.

That's not actually an answer, Phil.

Because we must not let the nasty nazi bastards think that their redundant policies are welcome in todays world of politics. Adolf has gone..... he failed..... get over it.

Good enough?

Surely their tiny, tiny public vote is enough of a signal?

Although being far left I know democracy and giving power to individuals isn't really your thing ;)

I'd like to think that most people are against the BNP? Not just "The far left"?

I'm a Socialist and mighty proud of it.

That's the whole point of Ben's initial post.

Why do 'the far left' as he describes them feel the need to do protests aginst the BNP when almost everyone in the country thinks they're twats anyway?

The BNP are tagetting many constituencies this year in the European Elections. They are doing this because this election uses proportional representation. So they will stand a decent chance of returning a few MEP's. Once these are in office they will just be Cash Cows for BNP coffers, using European tax payers money to fund Neo Nazi's.

The "Far Left" are organising through protests, to highlight this wherever they see the BNP are planning to put up candidates.

There's your "need".

Mike The Tory (and Ben)
I'd rather you congratulate the ''far left'' for being prepared to get off their arses and demonstrate about something they believe in passionately, rather than merely thinking that 'the BNP are twats' is enough.

Remember those words (not reproduced here accurately, but you get the picture...)

First they came for the Jews and I sat back and did f*** all
then they came for the gypsies and I sat back and did f*** all
then they came for the homosexuals and I sat back and did f*** all
etc etc
then they came for the tories.... and there was no one left to help Mike The Tory

If I had my way, readers of The S*n, Daily Mail and OK magazine would not get a vote because they clearly lack any form of intelligence to think for themselves.:guitar:

Although the BNP stands no serious threat in gaining political power, it has been well documented that a rise in BNP presence and vote leads to a rise in racist violence and harassment. So while many people can sit back and believe that the presence of the BNP in their area will have no real effect on their lives, those on the receiving end of the violence/harassment would probably say otherwise.

So every Guardian reader is thinking for themselves?

Thats no more accurate than suggesting Chelsea fans are brighter than United fans.

What's scary is a lot of people that i thought were lifetime lefties will be voting for Cameron next time around.Gordon seems to be the devil incarnate.

You missed out the Daily Express. That bloody paper's so confused it doesn't even know who its targeted at - as worry-mongering as the Daily Mail and as stupid as The Sun and The News of The World whilst creating the appearance of being high-brow.

My Dad usually gets The Times, or sometimes The Grauniad, but sometimes a voucher for Tesco or Robert Dyas inside a lesser paper will lead him astray. He got The Daily Express/Diana a few weeks ago and it made me so angry that I couldn't even try to read it.
