Band/Associates

A few itineraries I found today. Oh those were the days.!!! Will help figure out where we were at times if I ever get the memory jogging. Didn’t know we were making history at the time. I was trying to be as good as The Smiths, realizing that we can only be as good as we can be. We gave it a good shot and I think with the Your Arsenal Tour we came very close as it was a real band!! All I will say is I’m looking forward to making my own future with my own songs and at last a real band behind me. It’s rough trade all over again. Planning to make history because who knows how long we will be around! I hope for as long as possible. I’m grateful to all the fans who support and have supported me as I’m nothing without you. I’m grateful that I can still do music. Seriously to all of you who support me including my new band mates, I love you and God bless you. Stay safe !

During the earlier recording of Strangeways, the producer remembers how [nearly all of] The Smiths liked to balance hard work with references to their favourite comedy.

"Johnny [Marr] and Andy [Rourke] were completely obsessed with Spinal Tap," he says, "and there were mini Stonehenges of cigarette packs left all over the studio.... Andy had learned - by note - the bass line to Big Bottom!

"We only did that when Morrissey wasn't in the room, though. Don't worry."

She also became known as Morrissey’s muse and went on to photograph him extensively in the early 90s as he toured the US. “We shared the same taste, liked the same books,” she says. “We shared a house for a brief period in Whalley Range – it was a red-light district then.” With his counterintuitive views on the far-right For Britain party, Morrissey is a touchy subject these days, but Linder is loyal. “We’ve always disagreed,” she says. “It’s a healthy disagreement, the sort that comes with unconditional love.”

I'm happy to share this as I listened at the time - a very interesting interview with Alain.
Kudos to him for how open he was.
Very much worth a listen.
Alain chats in between music choices.
Particularly struck by how "Tell Me" sounds like a Morrissey era track.
I wish he'd write a book.
