Thanks very much for the scans. If you could possibly scan any more pages of the Smiths article, I'd really appreciate it.

Does anybody know what the 'nonsense' off the original records Marr was referring to?

Re: Does anybody know what the 'nonsense' off the original records Marr was referring Yep. Adding bass AND compression makes for a thumpy, club-like sound that doesn't work here (or with the Beatles stereo remasters, for that matter.)

    how do the remasters sound?

All your opinion, which you are surely entitled to. I absolutely do not agree, especially about the argument part. I am not interested in arguing about this, as everyone has their own taste.

Re: Does anybody know what the 'nonsense' off the original records Marr was referring The new remasters have been compressed, making them louder and less dynamic than the original LPs and CDs.

I have a gripe about how Moz releases albums

Me too. I hate the way "You Are the Quarry" was handled. Both issues should have been released simultaneously, then we'd have a choice upfront.

Re: Does anybody know what the 'nonsense' off the original records Marr was referring Probably that annoying wide dynamic range.

    how do the remasters sound?

I fully agree. The RT were plenty loud enough, with very little room for amplification without compression. These new remasters are too loud for my stereo, producing a thumpy quality when I turn it up that simply is not present on the RT or Sire CDs. I had a similar reaction to the Beatles...
