Morrissey - now managed by Madonna’s manager? (Boy George tweet) (UPDATE Sep. 17: confirmed Quest Artist Management / Instagram, since Aug. 2021)

Was there a post on here around the time of the BMG deal being rumoured that referenced something Boy George had said/posted or have I dreamt that ?

Morrissey - now managed by Madonna’s manager? (Boy George tweet) (UPDATE Sep. 17: confirmed Quest Artist Management / Instagram, since Aug. 2021)

As per Boy George:- UPDATE Sep. 17: Posted by Famous when dead in the comments: The Maverick (QAM) part appears confirmed: Regards, FWD. (Note: they've had Morrissey images on IG since August - George could have gleaned this information from here possibly?).

Morrissey A-Z: "There's a Place in Hell for Me and My Friends"

Prefer the band version. IIRC the piano on the “Kill Uncle” version was taken from Mark E Nevin’s demo and had had to have varispeed used on it as it was slightly out of tune (?)
  4. Southport Grandma

Morrissey A-Z: "There Speaks a True Friend"

A very slight number, I played it frequently nonetheless around the time of its release. Wasn’t there a harmonica solo outro that was cut, hence the abrupt end to the song?
  5. Southport Grandma

Morrissey A-Z: "The More You Ignore Me, The Closer I Get"

McCartney-esque bass sound, great lead riff, twinkling arpeggios shining here and there, then those lyrics and Morrissey’s rich sounding voice. What’s not to love.
  6. Southport Grandma

Morrissey A-Z: "That's How People Grow Up"

The balance of the guitars sounds wrong to me. Boz’s vibrato coated contribution should have been higher in the mix for me.
  7. Southport Grandma

Morrissey A-Z: "(The) Teachers Are Afraid of the Pupils"

I particularly enjoyed the live arrangement of the song. IIRC an incendiary rendition at the North Gate Arena in 1997.
  8. Southport Grandma

    Morrissey A-Z: "Sunny"

Wasn’t this the fourth song from the “Boxers” session? Bright and ringing guitars with something of unrequited lyric.
  9. Southport Grandma

Morrissey A-Z: "(A) Swallow on My Neck"

Those lyrics and that lilting music; like a warm coat on a cold day or a gentle breeze in summer.
  10. Southport Grandma

    Morrissey A-Z: "Suedehead"

Musically right up there with much of what Johnny Marr wrote for the Smiths. Lyrically it’s quintessential Morrissey.

Las Vegas, NV - The Colosseum at Caesars Palace (Sep. 2, 2021) post-show

Isn’t one of the problems that Morrissey forgot some of the words to “Jim Jim Falls” and “What Kind of People…” on the opening night. So perhaps he’s retreated to songs in which he’s fully confident?
  12. Southport Grandma

Morrissey A-Z: "Such a Little Thing Makes Such a Big Difference"

At the risk of sounding like Brett Anderson a lovely little number.
  13. Southport Grandma

    Morrissey A-Z: "Spring-Heeled Jim"

Spry and sprightly in all the right places.
  14. Southport Grandma

    Morrissey A-Z: "Speedway"

    Masterful bookend to V&I.
  15. Southport Grandma

    Morrissey A-Z: "Sorry Doesn't Help"

Don’t mind it but wouldn’t be something I play on purpose.

Billy Budd Glamorous Glue We’ll Let You Know National Front Disco Seasick Yet Still Docked Let The Right One Slip In Trouble Loves Me First Of The Gang To Die To Me You Are A Work Of Art The Edges Are No Longer Parallel
  17. Southport Grandma

Morrissey A-Z: "Something Is Squeezing My Skull"

Musically it brings to my mind “Billy Budd” but without the finesse of the same. Lyrically it’s very Morrissey, which isn’t a criticism.
  18. Southport Grandma

    Morrissey A-Z: "Smiler with Knife"

The song to me conjures up the image of Morrissey looking at himself in a mirror whilst an internal dialogue about self sabotage rages in his head.
  19. Southport Grandma

    Morrissey A-Z: "Sister I'm a Poet"

Classic Morrissey B-side, the sort of thing few artists produce.
  20. Southport Grandma

    Morrissey A-Z: "Sing Your Life"

Like both versions of the song.
