Merion West: "Nothing to Answer for: The Fearless Art of Morrissey" (January 6, 2024)

I had never heard of Merion West either, but according to Ground News, which is an excellent resource that checks how reliable a news source is and where it fits on the left/right spectrum, it sounds very reasonable:

Morrissey Central Updated chart history (December 3, 2023)

My main takeaway from this is that Morrissey released some truly terrible and downright bizarre singles in the early 2000s and they still managed to chart with respectable positions! 😮 Goes to show that Morrissey really could do no wrong back then before he decided to throw all the goodwill away.

Morrissey Central "HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, DARLING" (November 7, 2023)

As others have mentioned, this is a weird unnecessarily bitter comment. This is around the time I became a Morrissey fan, which I did partly because of the hype around Quarry. At that time, Morrissey was being courted by the mainstream as the elder statesman of indie rock and, the usual...

Hillbilly Moon Explosion cover How Soon is Now? (August 15, 2023)

I love Hillbilly Moon Explosion, but I'm on the fence about this cover. That said, I'm seeing them live at a psychobilly festival later in the year, so I'll be thrilled if they play this.

    Strange/unexpected Moz references?

Just finished reading Teds, Rebels, Hepcats & Psychos: The Story of British Rockabilly 1966-1998, a thorough history of the British rockabilly revival consisting of interviews and stories from those who were there at the time. Morrissey's Kill Uncle tour is very briefly mentioned near the end of...

Morrissey included in list of "anti-vaxxers" in today's LA Times Article (update: now removed)

Seems a bit unfair to call him an "anti-vaxxer" based on what he's said about COVID. You can be opposed to or skeptical of the way the media and government have responded to COVID (lockdowns, vaccine passports, inflating death figures to include people who died "with" the virus, etc.) without...

    Strange/unexpected Moz references?

In a recent interview with Joe Rogan, Jakob Dylan (son of that Dylan) was discussing music tribalism when he said that, back in the '80s, you could be a fan of The Police or The Smiths, but you couldn't be a fan of both. As I was too young to know any better in the '80s, I wonder how much truth...

Morrissey Central "Morrissey Greets Queen In Manchester" (July 8, 2021)

Morrissey needs to be careful not to alienate the conservative nationalists he's been courting with his monarchy bashing ways.

Morrissey Central "YOUR HEALTH IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS" (June 15, 2021)

Didn't Paul Joseph Watson say a couple of years ago that he was going to interview Morrissey? Did anything come from that?

Debbie Mahan IG: new Simpson's art shared for "Panic On The Streets Of Springfield" episode (April 15, 2021)

It's been a good decade since I last chose to watch a new episode of The Simpsons because it's become so bad, but I'm looking forward to this.

How would The Smiths do if they started today?

Which means he'd be despised with equal force by those on the other side of the political spectrum. They would definitely call The Smiths a "woke" band and Morrissey would get it the worst with his outgoing nature, effeminacy, anti-Conservatism. In that sense, not that much would be different...

GamesRadar+: X-Men #13 as a homage to Morrissey and the Smiths

I used to be a massive Marvel and DC fanboy, but around a decade ago I became fatigued by all the "events" and gimmicks, and so I just gave up. I still read comics (mainly indies, like Monstress and Black Science), so every once in a while I take a look at what the Big Two are up to, but it just...

GamesRadar+: X-Men #13 as a homage to Morrissey and the Smiths

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be some sort of joke: https://www.gamesradar.com/uk/xmen-13-review-x-of-swords/ "An annoying take that I have on this issue is that it's an extended reference to the Smiths song 'Shoplifters of the World Unite' and not just because of the small reference to...

Lil Yachty wears Morrissey shirt in his new music video "Pardon Me"

We have to remember that the whole point of pop music is that it pushes the boundaries of acceptability with each generetion and sounds like trash to those who came before. Imagine how people in their 30s and 40s in the '70s would have responded to punk if social media existed back then? I'm...
