Did you see Morrissey 25 at the cinema?

I'M IN THE MOVIE!!! Apparently I'm at the end of the film saying" I can die a happy man now" or something like that. I remember saying that leaving the show but never thought it would end up in the film. So awesome. Seriously made my weekend. If anyone can catch a screenshot, please post. I would be grateful. Love being a Morrissey fan!!!

I remember that, it got a laugh in Claremont.

I enjoy BBs posts and consider his opinionated and lets face it, sometimes factual posts refreshing, long winded (just scan them) but enjoying all the same.
Anyhow, back on track, a staggering 6 people (including me) turned up at the Hull Odeon to see '25', however, I enjoyed it, excellent sound quality, which you will miss on the dvd/br. some cringy, 'you saved me' etc etc mic moments, but well worth the money I thought.

The Odeon Was horrible, But enjoyed the film
I only counted 5 people but could have been six!
Microphone section was crap and the Boy that was thrust on stage was a little staged!

He could play 'in the round'. Or sing from the balconly for a few numbers. He could, y'know, challenge himself and his cult by actually engaging with The Audience beyond the first 10 rows. But, like engaging with curious festival crowds, he prefers the smug co-dependent feedback of The List. It doesn't matter, it's great fun to watch all this from the balconly, or to pretend to be a cult member and mosh at the front for a few numbers, before retiring to the back/bar with a drink and casting a wry view on the ridiculous manufactured 'hysteria'. I saw real hysteria at shows by Bolan, Bowie, Sabbath and The Faces: I haven't seen it a a Morrissey show for decades....and have no desire to see it again, other than as part of a 'lost in music' celebration of communal co-creation through Art. I find that nowadays in clubs, although The Knife at the Roundhouse was an astonishing debunk of the whole 'live authenticity experience' that Moz sadly now peddles like everyone else.

regards.

I enjoy reading (most) of your thought-provoking and intelligent posts though wonder how you have the time and the inclination to express yourself on this website so continuously. Carry on regardless.

Anyway did you go to The Knife at the Roundhouse? How did you get tickets? And what happened? Quite jealous.

Saw it last night at the GFT in Glasgow. Cinema was about half full. Thought it was dreadful, an exercise in self indulgence. The fans they interviewed were idiots and the way the film was shot was very poor.

Saw it in San Francisco at the Balboa Theater, great crowd, almost full capacity by the time the show started. Enjoyed the film, not flashy, Moz was surprisingly not chatty, but his commentary is always one of my favorite moments at his shows. A peek into the mind, so to speak. Did anyone notice that when Moz called out Julia to speak, that there was a loud BOOOO! catcall from an audience member? I was stunned that this wasn't edited out. Overall the movie felt like I was back at the Davis Ca show a few months back, but with no heads in my way.:-D

On of the few "poor" reviews of the film from a first hand eyewitness.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, just found it interesting that most fan reactions are positive.

Can't wait for it to come on DVD in OCT~

Studio Movie Grill's theater was almost full in Houston.

Seemed like over 90% of the tickets were sold.

The crowd was totally into the show and I left feeling like I had attended the gig, knowing what its like looking up at him from the rail.

I'm psyched for this Wednesday in White Plains. Interesting to note that it's also "Senior Wednesday", but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I'm not eligible for the discount:

People should be wary of indoctrinating their relatives into cults. As a recovering Catholic, Morrissey should be very clear on this and not propagate these silly memes to feed his neurotic self-image. Children should not be exposed to the slaughter-porn in "Meat Is Murder" as it will stop them enjoying "My Little Pony" and other such subversive genius art. And no, it's not just Morrissey: it's the entire rotten edifice of 'popular culture'. Except The Knife, maybe....

regards.
Oh honey, I don't play that troll game. Sorry.

If anyone in the Wirral Uk is interested, It is showing at "The Light" Cinema, New Brighton, on Tuesday 10th September at 7.30 pm. Tickets are £10.00, and £7.50 for students. I'm going for a few cups of Greased tea beforehand....in the Master Mariner pub across the road from the picture house actually...GREAT pub!!

(P.S., Hello Tony if you read this!!):thumb:

I totally agree with you that the crowd were awful.

The camera mainly focused on Morrissey and other members.
I didn't see much background projection during Meat Is Murder.

Which day did you go?

I heard Saturday screening at Hackney Picturehouse was sold out.

Monday Curzon Soho was well attended, between 80-100.

I wonder about Monday Vue Islington screening.

Hi Kewpie, sorry this is late, i saw it at Vue Islington on Monday 26th - there were about 25 people there i reckon - maybe 3/4 full - they used their smallest screen.

Thought it was a great show, really enjoyed the set list and he looked and sounded great. Was odd watching a Morrissey concert in a cinema though with no one really clapping or singing along. Odd but enjoyable experience.

Thank you very much for your report.

How is your little boy (he might have a little brother or sister now)? :)

I could've gone to Hackney Picturehouse or Vue Islington, but just had a free ticket of Curzon Cinema membership.

Glad I didn't use it earlier.

She'll need a man in her life to look after her!

Glad all is going well mate.

well, I just saw it with a fellow Mozketeer here in the LA area... I wish I hadn't read all the negative reviews on comments up front... they really bear no merit.. and moreso, its sad how much Moz has meant to us at some point or another - helping us when we were low, and now, when he is 'down' - he gets no support - even hate - from some people on this site. wow.

anyhow, it was wonderful - especially as I went to the show AND I was one of the fans interviewed on the film! I don't want to say who I am, as my ego is so fragile and I cant bear getting those same arrows pointed at my sad face... but nevertheless - it was the highlight of my year - the show and the film release.. yes, that's how sad my life is.

anyhow, there were many moments I got choked up, and felt proud to be his fan, and "true to him"... he will get old as we all will.... and we will remember the moments of our lives where he was our theme song... good times, bad times.. whatever.. its a lot of love and respect to this man who has meant so much to me... yes, I wish the set list was a little different, and I wish they didn't cut out Russell, and that they had more backstage footage of Moz, maybe a few words with him.... but all in all, when you love Morrissey, you will enjoy what you can get... such a little thing....

I think if I were musician, I would also hate festivals. I certainly hate them as an audience member.
