Elvis / Morrissey appreciation thread by Eric & TTC

Hi Tom Tom Club,

How have you been? Sorry I have not written you sooner. How has everything been going? I am glad the last post encouraged you. Everything that is going on in the world...the global unrest...is more than anything I can imagine. So much going on. Something is bound to give, Tom Tom Club. I wish I could talk more about these things I do agree. I just know that the light is growing much dimmer these days. In fact, Pastor Robert Jeffress from Dallas, Texas (if you have heard of him) had made the comment that "the days are growing gloriously dark." He mentioned this several years ago, but I see his meaning now. It hits home deeply. This is one of the reasons it would be nice to talk to you privately as well. I do agree with that. I think a time is soon coming when we may no longer have this opportunity at all, Tom Tom Club. The world is just going by...you know the phrase, "Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die'? Well, I have heard this illustration but in the context of the Titanic oblivious to the unforeseeable iceberg. I say that in the very Biblical sense of the word and meaning. I think rearranging the furniture on the ship before it sinks is the least of our worries. We both know with Whom our hope lies, yes? Stay encouraged.

Wow, you are asking if I would like to become a registered member. Hmm. Gosh, that is a difficult question, Tom Tom Club. You really put me on the spot. To be honest with you, I wish there would be a way to write each other other than this public forum. But being a member is something I just can't find myself to commit myself to doing. Not here. Is there an other option? I wish I could outright give you my e-mail address but that would not be wise. Even if the e-mail was for one time/temporary to compare notes, it still would not be safe or secure. Is there an other forum where you are a member? A 'Christian' one perhaps? This is tough. I am not a member of any community forum. I just don't care for them, Tom Tom Club. Not anymore. Years ago I would have had a different opinion, but not today. I would sacrifice a 'Christian' forum only to resign the same day, haha. That is, just to get each other's contact information (e-mail) then communicate via e-mail. Man, this is tough. Look, I have to go but I will write you after your next response. I won't let it go as long as I did the last time. I will make a mental note to write you right away as soon as I read your response (within a day or two, Godwilling). I did not mention that I was sick, did I? Not the whole time, of course. Anyway, let me know what you think about the option. A member here is just not feasible or likely, Tom Tom Club. If I was into the 'thread' scene (or boards) like I was many years ago, yeah maybe, but even then...I don't think I would have committed to it anyway. But we will talk more. Much sooner this time, okay Tom Tom Club? You take care of yourself now and I will await your response. Take care and God bless. -- Me
Hi Eric, Are you still around? I would very much like to keep in contact with you.

I'm not a member of any Christian forums. Are there any that you could recommend?

It is true that there seems to be so much global unrest. As Christians we know that things will get worse before they get better and Jesus returns. I believe in Premillennialism.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are unwell.

God bless you.

By the way I will check out the late Pastor Adrian Rogers and Robert Jeffress of Dallas, Texas.

Speaking as a someone who will never see Morrissey again because of his stupid mouth of late, I have the following message to Elvis Costello (real name Declan McManus):-

You are a fraud. You accepted an honour from the Queen in the name of the British Empire. As a son of Ireland that is inexcusable. You think it an honour to be accepted for praise in the name of our old colonial masters, who starved our ancestors to death? And don’t hide behind your aged Mother. You have a brain in your head and have expressed views in the past that go entirely against what you’ve gone and done. Shame on you.
Are you happy with your new colonial masters then?

Hi Tom Tom Club,

Good to hear from you! Yes, I do check here periodically. I am hoping you are well and in good health. I've been a little concerned. So, how have you been? As for me, I am fine. I was sick through most of November last year after a brief stint with jury duty for a few days early in November. Probably a combination of stress and a bug I caught from one of the jurors but I am fine. Nothing serious. Thanks for asking. I am hoping you are well though, too. I have not heard from you so I decided to post a few songs here and there in the event you stop by this thread. Below are a couple of posts I posted at two other threads at that time you might find interesting. Only music here. I think you will know the ones I posted. :)

I did not forget you are a Premillennialist. I, too, hold to that position, Tom Tom Club. Premillennialism is the only position that does not denigrate, if you will, the Lord's return and the crucial key to our 'blessed hope' for these last days prior to His return. I don't know of any Christian forums nor am I a member of any Christian forums but I did a brief check yesterday and was surprised with one I did find, Tom Tom Club. In fact, I use to receive their Worthy News newsletter (as it is called) from this ministry but stopped receiving them due to the high volume of junk/spam mail I received in my account. I highly recommend their ministry. For one, they are Messianic Jews and I know how much you love Israel, Tom Tom Club. I recommend you subscribe to their e-mail newsletter while you are there. They provide up to date news (or whatever selection you choose) that I think you will find informative. They also provide a Bible passage and words of encouragement in every e-mail they send as it relates to the day's story. Now, the actual Christian community forum for Worthy News you will find in the link below. I think you will enjoy browsing this site. They stand head and shoulders above the rest in Christian forums it appears. They are conservative, Biblically and Theologically sound/orthodox, Messianic in nature, and most importantly -- Accountable. I think you will like it. I will contintue to check other Christian forums out of cursory interest but was still quite surprised to find the ministry of Worthy News extended to an extensive community forum! That website is below:

As for my time here on Morrissey-Solo, I feel like the content of the following link sometimes. Especially what is going on in the world as you well know, and my place here in this forum is not very encouraging sometimes. It really does not help in the matter of encouragement, haha. Perhaps you will relate:

http://studygrowknowblog.com/2019/12/07/down-into-the-sewer/

By the way, I am glad you will check into Adrian Rogers and Robert Jeffress. There are so many sound teachers out there in the Christian community many are not aware of or have not heard. Be it theologians, apologists, prophecy teachers, pastors, etc. I will mention a few more pastors I highly recommend: David Jeremiah of Turning Point Ministries, Michael Youssef of Leading The Way Ministries, Charles Stanley of In Touch Ministries and John MacArthur of Grace To You Ministries. I highly recommend them for your edification, Tom Tom Club. Just two more links and I will wait for your response:

Hi Eric,

Good to hear from you again. I'm so glad that you are feeling better and well again. I will check out the Christian forum on:

http://worthychristianforums.com

Do you want me to use the name "Tom Tom Club" on there so you know who I am? What would your username be on the forum?

I like the Christian preacher/teacher Kevin Zacher. I believe that he is American:

I also like Pastor Jack Moorman. He is American but moved to Britain. Dr. Jack A. Moorman has written books about the Christian faith:

There are some other Christian pastors/preachers/teachers I like. I will tell you more next time.

Yes I support the Jewish State of Israel. Yes I love Israel. I don't support any violence there on either side though. One of the things I love about Morrissey is his love and support for Israel.

Hello Tom Tom Club,

I briefly checked into Jack Moorman. He has an interesting array of books from the few titles/subjects I glanced off hand. In fact, topically, he reminds me of Ken Johnson of http://biblefacts.org (among a handful of other scholars). I can understand the concern for Bible translations. There are many an example where the text or even entire passages are removed or twisted, what not. Especially in the course of time when or where language is specifically designed to fit the spirit of the day and age. A transliteration is one thing but a whole translation of a text or multiple texts is another story altogether. Textus Receptus (i.e., received text), Septuagint, Masoretic Text, etc. and all of those things. Everything the research entails. But, of course, no need to discuss those things here and now. We both know what is being said here. ;) I will also check into Kevin Zacher sometime this week. By the way, did you read the Fred DeRuvo article? Do read that article, Tom Tom Club. The article relates to my experiences here on Morrissey-Solo. I am sure it will speak the same to you. After all, we really can't get around it, can we?

Anyway, I have not really thought about a username for the website. I have not given it much thought but since you mentioned it, I have come up with a few, I suppose. By the way, Tom Tom Club is fine with me if you decide to keep it or think of another username. The decision is up to you, Tom Tom Club. I, personally, have not thought about one for me but in the short time I did come up with a few. Not the best but I will continue to think of something that would fit. So far I have come up with: World Spectator, Mysterious One, Heavenly Thinker, Phantom Stranger, Starry Eyes (mushy, I know - reference to my Mom), Camouflaged, God's Drifter, Pilgrim and M.E. (since I use 'Me' here and also a reference to M of Morrissey and E of Elvis incidentally, hence M.E.). Yes, I know, Medical Examiner would be the first thing that would come to mind if it were spelled out as an acronym, right? I really don't think I would want a username that would probably be thrown right back at me telling me to get my head examined, or something or other, right? So, no periods. Either way, there is nothing official. It's a work in progress. :)

By the way, before I go, I am going to leave you a fair number of links for you to go through at your own leisure. I will still post them here so you can familiarize yourself with them. I do highly recommend the all of them. There are far too many not mentioned (or to place here all at once, of course) but you will receive a good number of them for you to browse. Again, at your own leisure. Of course, in regard to one or two of the ministries I list (not counting Walter Martin), I may not necessarily agree with them entirely in their areas of theology/doctrine relating to eschatology (i.e., scp-inc.org), for example. Dr. Walter Martin, as the other example (in the previous post) falls in that category. Otherwise, Dr. Martin is excellent and an early 'spiritual' mentor of mine in my early years, would you believe. The late Dr. Norman Geisler is an other mentor. Of course, many of these individuals/ministries you can find on You Tube as well. In any case, here we go, Tom Tom Club. In addition to the names/links from the previous post, I recommend these ministries that cover a variety of topics and subjects respective to their ministry:

Hi Tom Tom Club,

There is going to be an upgrade after tonight. I will add a few more links of information before the upgrade is finalized. I don't know what will happen exactly but I will give you a heads up regarding potential places I could be. I don't know. A few more usernames I have thought about: Fathom Stranger (instead of Phantom Stranger) and two others: Surreal Bravo and MirrorEdgeMan (a play on words more than anything else, :)). Below you will find a few more links for you to explore and three more Christian community forums for you explore further. By the way, these specific forums are not extensive forums by any means. They will be much smaller than what we are accustomed to here. Members are literally a handful at waltermartin.com, for example. You, I and the moderator. At least it will appear to be the case once there at the site. Looks can be deceiving though. In any case, there is a variety of options to post though. With their extensive selection of topics for browsing and posting, we ourselves will do most of the posting or will, at least, add our extensive two cents to those topics provided. But, again, looks can be deceiving. Who knows. :) Okay, Tom Tom Club, here are the additional links:

http://waltermartin.com/forums (Great topics and only a handful of people!)
http://www.raptureforums.com/forums/
(Still not certain about this one yet. But a prophecy based forum is a good alternative if there are no other options)

This is about it. There you have it. I hope you enjoy all of the links from both posts, Tom Tom Club. You have yourself a wealth of information at your fingertips! I really do hope you find all of the information helpful and encouraging, Tom Tom Club. There is a lot of information to absorb. In the event things don't turn out or take a turn for the worst for whatever the reason, or something goes wrong or other, or it is something else altogether, I do want to leave with you a lasting library of hope to help, encourage and bless you in your time of need and to help you continue to grow in your walk with the Lord. With everything going on in the world the way things are going, we really don't know what could potentially happen from one day to the next. Especially between now and then, Tom Tom Club, if the Lord tarries. We have the U.S. elections, the nation of Israel, etc. Two big ones, right? Who knows what could come out of those events alone. We could even be called home. No one knows. But we do live each and every day as though it were our last. That is, serving the Lord to the best of our ability wherever we are in the world, to His glory. Nevertheless, I do want you to know that I am here and the Lord is with you always. He will never leave you nor forsake you. This was my Mom's favorite verse to the end. You hang in there and keep looking up for our redemption draws nigh. Hey, you take care of yourself now and the Lord bless you, Tom Tom Club. You take care now. God bless. I will wait for your response either way. I am here and will continue to be here for whatever time is needed or however long it takes. :)

Thank you for all the links. Please let me know what you are going to do with regards to Christian forums. I haven't joined any of the Christian forums yet. Which one are you thinking of joining? I'm happy to call myself "Tom Tom Club" so you know who I am. Please let me know what username you will be going with. God bless.

Hi Tom Tom Club,

It's official. I decided to join the Worthy Christian Forums as Fathom Stranger. The timing could not be any more ironic. The fact that the both of us will be dealing with change. Transition too. The change and transition between Solo and Worthy amidst change at Solo and the transition to Worthy. It will be something new, something different. Adjusting between Solo and Worthy Christian will be interesting.

The funny thing, Tom Tom Club, is that we may still find ourselves in the same dilemma at Worthy not having the opportunity to contact each other privately via e-mail. :) But, in this case, we are both members! More irony. I am sure we could contact the administration regarding that issue. It will not be the same as a registered member of Solo even if I have not been a member of any forum at any time on the Internet. I am certain Worthy will be far more restrictive than the freedoms or liberties provided on Solo. Worthy has made that clear. Without question. Besides, it is a Christian forum. The restrictions are necessary. Again, accountability. It might be difficult at Worthy going past the e-mail issue. But, we shall see, we shall see.

Nevertheless, it will take a little time to adjust to their website/forum. The change here at Solo is quite minimal when you consider the maneuvering at the Worthy site. But we will learn, right? Besides, we will still keep both of our feet in both forums for a time. Is that a good thing? To stand on the fence, that is? Keeping one foot in and one foot out in both forums. :) Anyway, I will see how everything turns out over at Worthy and go from there. We will learn more as we go through the site. Okay, Tom Tom Club, I do need to go. You take care now and God bless you. Let me know what you think about Worthy once you sign up if you do decide to sign up. I did not browse their site at all. I just registered/signed up and then signed out shortly thereafter. Well, you take care. I will wait for your response. God bless. Until then.

God bless. Until then.

Hi Tom Tom Club,

No. I don't think I will be here too much longer. I will let you know more once we are situated. I believe we need 2 posts from the each of us before everything becomes official. I did leave you an official message at Worthy Christian Forums however. :) I responded to your 'welcome' post. I believe it counts as 1 post already. I also sent you a private message providing my e-mail for you (finally!) along with a question posted in the 'Q & A' section. We will see what happens. I will look at your profile the next time I sign in. Until then. Take care now and God bless you, Tom Tom Club.

Elvis Aron Presley:

musicHound rock (1996)
"...Presley inevitably drifted toward Las Vegas, gained much weight and became a parody of himself...[but] people sometimes forget that Presley - king of rock 'n' roll, movie star, tragic symbol of garish excess, paragon of moral decay, one of the best-selling pop artists of all time...actually was talented...he had an innate command of the stage and audience, and he was a terrific singer and interpreter...[effortlessly displaying an exceedingly powerful and versatile vocal range]."

All Music Guide (1997)
"Elvis Presley was the defining figure of rock 'n' roll music. He is the biggest record seller in history. During his lifetime, especially in the 1950s, he was the focal point for the emergence of rock 'n' roll culture, and he made some of the genre's seminal recordings. Since his death, he has become a pervasive American icon. [Though] Elvis Presley did not invent rock 'n' roll...[He] was the foremost popularizer of rock 'n' roll...[as] the name 'Elvis' became synonymous with the music itself."

New Musical Express (8/2/97)
"...His legend may be sullied and omnipresent, his music distorted and overly familiar and his life parodied and documented to a suffocating degree, but this...at least reminds you why he was the King and why his music meant so much."

Steven Patrick Morrissey:

The New Trouser Press Record Guide (1989)
"...Morrissey and...[The Smiths] stand for the traditional values of selfishness, self-pity and the unbearable anguish of love...No other pop music act...has raised blatant self-absorption to such a high level."

musicHound rock (1996)
"[With incredible stage presence]...Morrissey became an icon for a legion of mournful followers. Blending angst with humor...swagger with impenetrable attitude...Many of his critics even suggest that he has turned into a caricature of his former self."

David Bret (1994)
"Britain's most articulate singer-songwriter...a complex individual whose lyrics opt for realism, wit...tension, and love...prefers not to sanitize, and...and has no time for the moon-June trivia which...is churned out...by so many of his contemporaries. [He] remains aloof, mysterious, enigmatic and reclusive - a philosophical, witty, ironic, hard-hitting individual who is one of his country's essential communicators, a living link between Victorian literary ideals and modern-day bed sit drama. His voice is...melancholy, that of a man who has experienced every emotion...[no other artist, since Elvis Presley, has displayed such emotion]. [Morrissey]...is the uncrowned, undisputed champion of the more complex aspects of the human condition, and as such quite possibly the most influential entertainer of his generation."
Hail to the two kings of the music world. More true now than ever, these movers and shakers have turned the world upside down. For better or for worse, these legends have made their mark on the music world earning their top tier status in music history. One from :unitedstates: and one from :greatbritain:. In 1994, Tank Girl could not be any more prophetic. Salute to two of the greatest singers of our time. Thank you. Viva Moz Vegas! The spirit of Elvis awaits the passing of the torch. :thumb:

Elvis Presley and Morrissey both seem to have Irish heritage which is interesting. I think that Elvis Presley might have some Scottish heritage as well.

Lisa Marie Presley invited to Hacketstown in Ireland for the Elvis Presley Festival:

The people of Hacketestown, County Carlow have issued an invitation to to Lisa Marie Presley to attend the first ever Elvis Presley Festival celebrating what they believe are Elvis Presley's ancestral links with the area. I think that was back in 2014?

I think that popular music is a creation of people of Celtic mostly Irish heritage who moved to America. Also black African Americans maybe more than anyone! Black African Americans have contributed a huge amount to popular music maybe more than anyone. Also Jewish people who moved to America. And some Italian Americans like Frank Sinatra. Mexicans have their own music and culture I believe that they have some Spanish origins. French people have their own music and culture. Brazilian people have their own music and culture I believe that they have some Portuguese origins. There is also the black Rastafarian Jamaicans who created reggae in the Caribbean. The Welsh are known for being powerful strong singers. I guess all countries and cultures have their own music. Vienna, Austria’s capital is known for classical music. Italy is known for opera. I guess all countries have some sort of 'folk' music- the music of the people. There is also gypsy music. Music is universal it's something which unites people of all backgrounds!

This is interesting, Tom Tom Club. I was aware of the Scottish roots of Elvis Presley but the thought of the Irish heritage between the two more directly linked interesting. The DNA history between the Irish and Scottish Gaels is interesting in the following link:

History is one of those topics where tensions fly across all boundaries and borders whatever the culture or people or groups of people at any time. If anything, it only reveals what we all have in common, Tom Tom Club. The same sin nature. Smile. Human nature reveals itself in all kind of forms in the world. Often it's ugly. It doesn't matter where in the world either, but the outcome is usually the same. :persevere: The tower of Babel is an important lesson. With or without God is the question we ask here. Especially in these last days, Tom Tom Club. Back to Babel. Unity without God. Tragic. Unity in Christ is one thing. We understand that. But when unity is forced on society through its own idea of unity without God? A far different outcome. More stress than many realize today. This forum is the foundation of such stress, in fact. :anguished: Haha. Not so subtle really. In fact, it parallels the subject of transhumanism, would you believe, in ironic fashion. Anyway, we will talk more about those things in our own time. ;)

Yes, history is always a fascinating subject, though, regardless of the topic. Language is interesting too. Local dialects, etc. - what not. Like Spanglish. Then you have Ladino or Yiddish as other examples within Jewish circles. You mention Mexico. You have the Mestizos (which is closer to the commonalities of the human race that you reveal in your post ironically enough) or the Creole of Louisiana (French and Spanish). These topics are all very interesting when you look into the ancestral roots of specific peoples or cultures, or the etymological origins or roots of words, and even phrases. Surnames are particularly interesting. Even as the subject relates to words or phrases in general, language is always fascinating. What is common between the human race far outweighs our differences of "culture," including music. All of these things connect us all anyway. One race, many cultures. But in Christ, a far different meaning and outcome than the forced message moving in the world today. Good topic. By the way, Wales...this is Tom Jones' stomping grounds! Smile.

I have to admit...those ancestry DNA commercials appeal to me from time to time but I think there may come a time when the government may decide to seize those DNA banks and use it against those individuals, if you know what I mean. I am sure most people don't think of that. DNA that has been freely and willingly consented away to a DNA bank, or what not, somewhere unknown (for all practical purposes). I think of "Minority Report." In this case, our freely supplied DNA. Scary. Especially today. Personally, I really don't have a desire or inclination to search my genealogical roots anyway. I already know there may be Spanish, French, Native American, possible Jewish, etc., etc. It's not important to me. I think of Titus 3:9 in the Scriptures. Like much in the world these days, it reminds me of a "my sin is better than your sin" kind of response. Splitting theological hairs is one thing (and conflicting enough as it is) but to allow it to pull at one's teeth? Basically, this is what all of this amounts to really. Haha. The idea that someone has an upper hand in the most petty issues or matters is just that, petty. :) We don't need that kind of division. I actually found an interesting link on this topic here:

Thank you for this post. This is so interesting I like the way you explain things. You are very thoughtful. I had known about Elvis Presley's Scottish roots for years like you have. Only recently did I find out about his Irish roots. I guess a lot of Elvis fans are interested in what Elvis Presley's DNA is. I don't know where all of Elvis Presley's roots are from? I heard that Elvis might have a Jewish connection as well?

I have Celtic/Gaelic Irish and Scottish roots myself. Yes there is a lot of connections and similar culture with Scotland and Ireland. I was born in London, England so I'm English as well.

I have never had a DNA test done but I know that it is very popular these days.

There is the classic male Irish tenor singers who come from Ireland. Country music is popular in Ireland as well. There is also the traditional Irish folk music.

Judaeo-Spanish or Judeo-Spanish commonly referred to as Ladino, is a Romance language derived from Old Spanish.

The Creole people of Louisiana are interesting and also the Cajuns. The Cajuns also known as Acadians are an ethnic group mainly living in the U.S. state of Louisiana, and in the Canadian maritimes provinces as well as Quebec consisting in part of the descendants of the original Acadian exiles—French-speakers from Acadia (L'Acadie) in what are now the Maritimes of Eastern Canada.

Yes Sir Tom Jones comes from Wales originally. Katherine Jenkins (OBE) and Dame Shirley Bassey also come from Wales. The Welsh are known for having strong, powerful singing voices! The Welsh are also known for being good Christian preachers, teachers and actors. The poet and writer Dylan Thomas came from Wales.

The traditional male voice choirs come from Wales they sometimes sing in the Welsh language. Welsh Treorchy Male Voice Choir - "Nearer, My God, To Thee":

My Christian faith is the most important thing in my life! I love music and good singers as well like you do.

I love black African American music as well it is the roots of much of our popular music. For instance I love the gospel music. I think that black African American culture is very rich. I know that Elvis Presley had and Morrissey has an interest in black African American culture.

Transhumanism is something that really worries me and also virtual reality. They are making holograms of famous deceased singers like Whitney Houston, Roy Orbison and Michael Jackson. What do you think of that? Technology is moving so fast these days I think it is terrifying.

Michael Jackson married Lisa Marie Presley so he has/had a connection to Elvis Presley.

I found this American pastor online called Pastor Charles Lawson this is a positive video called "Never Give Up":

I noticed that Fiona Dodwell often signs her letters and articles and things with "Me" similar to you on your posts on here. 'Fiona' is a Scottish name. I wonder if Fiona Dodwell has some Scottish roots/heritage/ancestry?

I thought that it was interesting when you were talking about Bible translations. You said "A transliteration is one thing but a whole translation of a text or multiple texts is another story altogether. Textus Receptus (i.e., received text), Septuagint, Masoretic Text, etc. and all of those things. Everything the research entails. But, of course, no need to discuss those things here and now." Could you explain more to me about what this means?

I think that the Authorised King James Bible 1611 version is a good version of the Holy Bible.

What you said about the areas of Christian theology/doctrine relating to eschatology (i.e., scp-inc.org), for example is interesting as well. Could you explain more about what this means?

ME: Yes, the Jewish connection with Elvis appears to be true. The research of geneticist Donald Yates of DNA consultants, based in Colorado, explains the Jewish connection as it's linked to the Cherokee nation here in the United States. Very, very interesting. The following links should direct you to those articles. In fact, the top article (without the banner) claims the "genetic jury is still out." I don't know about that entirely though, smile. I am also including a Bruce Lee article regarding potential Jewish DNA running in Bruce Lee and family. Crazy, someone might say. Perhaps. Smile. I think, gordyboy, would find the article interesting. (Yes, I got to know many within the forum by reading one post too many!). In any case, the links are below:

ME: I wouldn't recommend it for the reasons I have stated. ? The mysterious storage facility far beyond the great yonder does not go well with me. ?

There is the classic male Irish tenor singers who come from Ireland. Country music is popular in Ireland as well. There is also the traditional Irish folk music.

Judaeo-Spanish or Judeo-Spanish commonly referred to as Ladino, is a Romance language derived from Old Spanish.

ME: Brief interesting story. I heard a story of a linguistics professor who was dining at a restaurant. There were two individuals at a table next to his -- a Mexican and an Italian. As he was listening in on the conversation, he realized that the two individuals were capable of communicating/conversing to each other in their own native tongue. That is, the both were able to get by just speaking in their own tongue with little difficulty. Bear in mind that the two did not have any prior knowledge of the other's language at all. So, yes, the Romance languages do have much more in common than what many may realize.

ME: It is interesting you mention this topic. I, personally, am a fan of the early roots of rock 'n roll as it is. Well, most music in general I do enjoy. I really don't think too many people enjoy music from those eras much these days anymore, Tom Tom Club. Sad really. I am a fan of those 'oldies but goodies' you find in the 1950s. I usually post them anonymously in the 'listening to music' thread by the way. Yes, this is also me. :) But very few like it, I imagine. I think 'The Wild T' has an interesting array of music closer to mine perhaps. Again, I have been on this forum a little too long. In any case, this time in history was a time rich in music. It really was. So, you are correct when you say that much of our popular music derived from Black-American culture for the most part. I also am a fan of Motown. The 1970s really stretched out into all kinds of genres within the same decade! I enjoy music from those times as well. All in all, I can pass with the '30s to the early '90s. Hehe. But most music, thereafter, I have become more discriminate. Unless it is classical, New Age, jazz, etc. Those genres never change, thank God.

I have never been a fan of the genre I call 'radio music.' I will tell you that. I am always seeking the alternatives. Otherwise, I don't listen to music that often these days. At least not like I did in my youth but when I do listen, I enjoy it and make the most of it. Yes, I am still a 'purist' in the traditional sense of my listening experience. I like the music you like too as you well know. If anything, the extent of my listening experience these days is discriminate, careful and cautious. Listening to music today can be a double-edged sword. By the way, I think you will find the following You Tube link of a group from the early 1990s interesting. The group is called 'Eye & I.' And, yes, they are entirely Black/African-American right down to the edgy guitars:

Transhumanism is something that really worries me and also virtual reality. They are making holograms of famous deceased singers like Whitney Houston, Roy Orbison and Michael Jackson. What do you think of that? Technology is moving so fast these days I think it is terrifying.

ME: Yes, transhumanism is not a pleasant topic. Worrisome in fact. In short, transhumanism is 'immortality without God.' In fact, transhumanism further redefines the very nature and meaning of what it means to be human. This is what we are seeing today in this post-modern/post-Christian world with the transgender movement. However, the agenda is taken to a whole new level with the blurring of lines between the man-machine interface. As a result, the meaning of man is lost in the shuffle. In fact, transhumanism speaks of these things as something beneficial to the human race. Ray Kurzweil and his GF (Global Future) 2045 agenda is an example. Of course, we also have Elon Musk and his musician-girlfriend Grimes (aka Claire Elise Boucher) who both represent the transhumanist philosophy/values right down to a big 'T.' In fact, most of Grimes' videos push this globalist/futurist worldview by default. I admit that she does have interesting music in how she incorporates her vocals with her creations. I am a small fan but her 'transhumanist' worldview and association with Elon Musk is entirely lost on me. You also have the Extropians/extropian society:

So, yes, it is worrisome, Tom Tom Club. At the least it is the worship of 'self' at its highest pinnacle. Self on the throne. Again, back to Babel. Instead of Christ on the throne, it is self at the center of the universe. This is to be expected though, Tom Tom Club. By the way, you mention 'virtual reality.' Well, you will probably find the following You Tube links interesting. In fact, I can foresee a time when this Disneyland/Hollywood type of technology will be introduced to the entire world outside its controlled environment, if you will. It will be to the benefit of these last days in last days deception in my opinion, to be sure. Explanations for UFO phenomenon/invasion, or that of a Coming (Counterfeit) Messiah, etc. It's all of those conspiracies you may have heard, Tom Tom Club, smile. Project Blue Beam, HAARP, etc. We probably won't be here when this happens anyway. ? In any case, I think you will find the two links interesting as it relates to the holographic world of 'virtual reality' that you had mentioned (i.e., mimicking people/celebrities, et. al.). In a lost world, I can see how this can be scary, Tom Tom Club. Everything is moving ever so fast at a frightening pace indeed. There are countless videos (and related topics) throughout You Tube if you really search them out. They are also probably deleted just as swiftly as soon as they are placed. I haven't seen as many as I have in the past that I can recall so, ah well. By the way, Tom Horn's website addresses all of these topics (and more) on a day to day basis at the following link. You may find the information helpful:

http://www.skywatchtv.com

The two 'virtual reality' You Tube links are below:

(I don't know the source or context surrounding this video however. Whether it is inside a controlled environment such as Universal Studios or Disneyland, I don't know, Tom Tom Club. Either way, this can be easily replicated/duplicated out there in the real world these days obviously).

Michael Jackson married Lisa Marie Presley so he has/had a connection to Elvis Presley.

ME: I will probably address this further privately, Tom Tom Club. I might run out of space here late into the wee hours at this rate. But I will provide you these links for now:

I think that the Authorised King James Bible 1611 version is a good version of the Holy Bible.

ME: Yes! As this relates to the prior topic on the subject of translations and related topics -- I will quote from 'The Extent Bible is Inspired' link: "Occasionally the writers were even told to 'diminish not a word' (Jeremiah 26:2, AV). John even pronounced anathema upon all who would add to or subtract from the 'words of prophecy of the book.' (Revelation 22:18, 19)." We will discuss this further privately, of course, if you wish. ? I do have to go now, Tom Tom Club. You take care now. God bless you!

For purpose of brevity, I will respond within your message itself: .
Hi Eric,

I have had a difficult couple of days.

I found this Christian video would be interested to know what you think. They talk about the terrible tornadoes in Nashville, Tennessee and the Coronavirus:
