Man Behaving Badly

Thoughts?

What a bunch of try-hards! Thought that was meant to be a music forum, all they seem interested in are his opinions and 'racism'. Surely Moz is as entitled to his opinions about things as these snowflakes!

Cancel culture in full force there I see. What happened to talking about the music?!?

That forum reads like a bunch of middle aged dads moaning about the office coffee.

Tbf just like their forum is full of middle aged dads moaning about office coffee, this forum is full of flag guitar shaggers, you arse the quarry In the rarefied world of the house ukulele YouTube community, Martin Jones has been a hit-maker since early this decade. There’s his video ‘Morrisey – f***in’ with Me’, with the melodies rising and falling, ever-so-gently, over one of the biggest ukulele motifs around, the theme from the Bill And Ted movie franchise.

Read it and weep. This is what Morrissey has done to his legacy. He put out hate and it is returned tenfold.

No - the homophobic music press put out hate & people were too lazy to question it.

Those sad bastards are bigots.

They're shaming themselves.

Huh, so Morrissey bears no responsibility for what he's said. Very convenient. How come they are not homophobic about Elton John or the Pet Shop Boys or Carrie Brownstein or St Vincent, etc etc

They are, plus sexist - but those artists do a huge amount of promotion & play along slightly more with gay/sexist stereotypes.

Morrissey barely does promotion - esp television which gives a reach & clout that vicious hacks can't match. And he fights against the stereotypes.

This is a review for Madstock - the gig the NME falsely claimed was racist - all this critic bothers to note is how unmanly Morrissey is:

...to the gold lame flounce of Morrissey, who, having replaced The Farm, was accorded the proverbial 'mixed reaction' for his trouble. But then, Morrissey has never been exactly the most blokeish of performers. (Andy Gill, 9th August 1992, The Independent)

Never heard of that site before, but what an odd place it seems to be! The person who started the poll isn't really interested in having a discussion about the music, but seems to get off of the idea to break the site's record for lowest-scoring artist. The person with the David Bowie(!) profile picture sets the tone by saying: "Can’t see this leading to much fruitful discussion because I think everyone’s views will be pretty much the same."

A few people realize that their dislike of Morrissey might be somewhat irrational seeing that he hasn't actually done anything, unlike James Brown or Mark Kozelek, but try to justify their hatred by saying that Morrissey is openly problematic. At least other artists had the decency to sleep with underage girls, beat up their spouses or sexually harass women behind closed doors, but Morrissey wore a badge on the outside of his clothes!

Someone is worried that the website might get invaded by Morrissey fans: "If that did happen, would you be able to delete the votes/users that specifically came to defend him? Not saying you should, but would it be an option so the results aren’t skewered to the opposite of DiS’s general views?" Just imagine the chaos that would ensue if Morrissey would end up with a reasonably high rating!

Most of them sound like conformist bores who are terrified of differences of opinion, so instead of bringing some nuance to the discussion, they try to outdo each other in slandering Morrissey. The peer pressure is strong on that site! Fascinating!

Wow - reading that thread does show you just how loathed he is these days. :paranoid:
