Is Anyone Here a Morrissey Fan Who Doesn't Listen to his Music?

Is anyone here like me as in you used to listen to Morrissey all the time because you were obsessed but since it's been so many years since he's released new music you've long since grown tired of his songs, but you're still a fan because you wouldn't mind checking out his upcoming NEW releases (by "new" I mean new songs, not old songs in new packagings)?

I've loved The Smiths for 10 years now ... and as I write this I'm listening to "Meat is Murder". But, yes, it's been a while since I've listenened to any of his solo-albums.

A new LP would be nice ....

I have the reverse effect actually

I listen to Morrisseys solo work constantly up until Kill Uncle
when Your Aresonal came out I thought it was crap
and I thought his band was fairly talentless

in more recent times I have gone back and listened to his post Kill Uncle solo work and actually found a few songs that stand out as really good.

The Sunny Single is a real bright spot, all 3 tracks on that single are great.

but his music in general has been on all downhill

I dont want him to ever release a new CD unless he hires some truely talented people to back him up...

Cheers

I don't listen to as much Smiths or Morrissey as I used. When I was 15-16 I would n't listen to anything else but now I ve grown out of that and open myself up to all sorts of music. I still love The Smiths but I can't listen to them all the time.

Brian, are you here??

Neither. Brian said he loves the Smiths and Echo and the Bunnymen and recommended this site at Super Soap weekend. I saw The Smiths on VH1 classics and is Morrissey the guy dancing wearing plastic necklaces?
If thats him he was really hot in that video but I saw a picture of him hanging out with some migrant workers on the steps of his house and I can't believe thats the same guy.

Re: Brian, are you here??

I think Morrissey is the lead singer. This guy does have a really cool house and I bet it has a pool and jacuzzi. Too bad he has some really cheesey looking guys hanging out on his steps, one looks like Ricky. I can see this Morrissey guy driving a really cool car(beamer convert. maybe?) wearing European sunglasses. Notice how Brian had the same haircut when he was on diagnosis murder. Morrissey should get a goatee just like Brian but he shouldn't bleach it like Brian. He would be totally awesome.

How was Livvie able to fake her pregnancy test? I hate her sooooo much.

well, as of now, I don't even have any morrissey solo albums...although, I am waiting on a used copy of that I won on ebay...I've only bought one smiths cd (at one time, I had a few records)...mostly, friends of mine recorded all of the smiths music for me onto cassettes or cds...however, I do consider morrissey to be one of the greatest lyricists of our time...the smiths remain as one of my favourite groups ever and I started listening to them when I was in grade school, in the mid 80's...I do listen to him quite a bit though...I have downloaded as many of his solo songs and smiths songs as I can get my hands on (if I had the money, I'd most likely have bought all of the smiths cds and a few of his solo cds)...it's amazing the sort of influence one person can have over your life, though...as I still find myself falling in love with his frigging voice over and over again...

I never even heard any of his music. I am a fan of Brian Gaskill. He plays Rafe on PC and he is a huge Smiths fan.

Last white fan...

EXACTLY!

He need to get rid of the embarrassing 2 bit rockabillies (The Gay Cats?) and hire a decent band... it's 2002 forchrissakes... do we really need sad old 50s pastiches?????

Move on, Morrissey, like your fans seem to have....

Re: Last white fan...

THANK YOU!
I was begining to think I was the only one left who could see morrissey objectively. I think he has kept this band around for so long, because he treats them like the hired help, there are no conflits, no problems, and of course no talent!

How can you call Your Arsenal crap? Everything in it, from the subtle sound bites to the order of the songs, is perfect. Without a doubt that album is Morrissey's masterpiece.

Perhaps you don't like his recent work or the fans who listen to it because it makes you feel like stuck-up, old fogey you are.

Yeah, objective....

Lyrically it was Morrissey's weakest work
He knew it to, that's why he didn't include the lyrics with the disc.

Tomorrow, was the only high point on the CD.

He recorded in a rush, Mick Ronsen overdubed most of the bands playing on it to try to repair it, a good effort on Mick's part but not enough...

It's his worst solo album, Viva Hate being his best.

I don't care for it much either
does that make me stuck-up and old?

You are talking complete rubbish....Vauxhall and I.....classsic album!!!!!

> You are talking complete rubbish....Vauxhall and I.....classsic album!!!!!

Vauxhall certainlly had more bright spots than Your Arsenal

"Now My Heart is Full" and "Speedway" are AMAZING, a worthy rival to any Smiths song

"Spring-Heeled Jim" and "The More you Ignore Me" are pretty good too!

the rest of the songs are crap
and "Billy Budd" is MEGA CRAP!

Hmm......I think Billy Budd is the only one below par on that album....although mega crap is a bit TOO harsh.

I am hated for loving is good and lazy sunbathers is fantastic. Excellent record. After that Southpaw Grammar and Maladjusted .....no where near the depth of quality. I don't think he's ever fully deviated away from the Smiths really.......only thing missing is the twiddly guitar bits from Marr....

Shame he's not playing the UK at the mo!

well my big point is that the Smiths show were amazing
Johnny pulled amazing stuff off.

compared to seeing these new bozos play life is a joke
how long have they been at it? and they still sound like 1st year students.

most of these goons work on the morrissey solo cds is overdubed to 9th power
and doesnt come across as poorly as when seen live..

Greasetea is well known for being a fan who prefers to jack off over photos of Moz and cum all over his face on the album covers rather than to listen to his music.

As for me, I'm saving my Moz collection for my kids when they want to ask me all about the birds and the bees.
