Everyone convinced yet? It is a dark day when even a Swede slags you. Everyone to a T is saying this novel is a big steaming turd. Even the Swedish!

What bothers me most is the fact that he couldn't even stop his ranting in his first piece of fiction. Going off about meat and the royals every time he opens his mouth is tiresome. He had an opportunity to write something meaningful but he couldn't get off his pulpit.

Devious, truculent and unreliable ! That's our Steven.

Everyone judging this novel by the negative reviews are very naive. The likes of Hemingway, Scott Fitzgerald and Emily Bronte all received the most scathing reviews. Go figure and get reading lol.

You ever wonder why they call it a bandwagon? All these reviews sound the same. These critics lack original thought and therefore can't stand something that isn't what they expected. Maybe it's time to think on your own. Read it first.

If there was not even a single one review of them then there would not be even a single one opinion of yours. This is the modern life.

No amount of time is going to elevate "List of the lost" to the realm of "The sun also rises." Get real. This book is a joke.

Warning: The following two paragraphs are possibly the worst depictions of sex I have ever read. And I am an aficionado of Penthouse Forum.

‘Eliza and Ezra rolled together into the one giggling snowball of full-figured copulation, screaming and shouting as they playfully bit and pulled at each other in a dangerous and clamorous rollercoaster coil of sexually violent rotation with Eliza’s breasts barrel-rolled across Ezra’s howling mouth and the pained frenzy of his bulbous salutation extenuating his excitement as it smacked its way into every muscle of Eliza’s body except for the otherwise central zone.’

‘In the bed of Tracey and Harri the physical rush is a floodgate — too fast to mean anything, too many court-jester ouches ... with their minds already wandering towards whatever will save them in order to make their exit seem polite and timely. In their secrecy, Harri does not like Tracey’s knotted banana toes...’

knotted banana toes? jesus, thats embarrassing.
i think we know now why no more uk shows. he knows he can live down the ridicule.

Read the worst review in history, of Lolita, in New York Times 1958. The reviewer is long forgotten but Vladimir Nabokov is being read all over the world today! In fact it's books like 50 shits of dismay and that de Vinci crap that excites our critics.

what do people think authors write about other than there causes and beliefs. do people think novels are written about subjects theyre uninterested in or dont have strong opinions on. thats the motivation to write and hardly a reason to dislike a book. i personally am also very un interested in authors writing about sex in un socialistic cultural terms such as commenting on the social norms of the time. this doesnt make what they write poorly written i just very much find it boring and without point. the rachel papers is martin amis's, who is among my fav authors, and this is in part what made his first novel so dull to me and part of why i find it his worst. some of the language fun he uses though redeems it a bit. i gave one of the legless beggars a pence and he said gob' less' while i replied ill try made me laugh. what books do you guys who dislike it read though, what are you favs. not looking to critisize your taste but im wondering what you guys are comparing it to to see if we have similar lists and to see if what you guys dislike i might like on some level. i imagine that moz fans must have some taste in literature

it's Morrissey's try of make an open minded novel about men and their sexual thoughts and needs and do's.

Rita Mea Bown-Ruby Fruit Jungle is what He had in mind but the male side

'and they say he's mentall' ... breakback mountain ....

There comes a point though where the novelist's opinions and causes should at least be integrated into the narrative. The problem with List of the Lost is that all Morrissey's own socio-political views are just kind of chucked in randomly with no finesse or relevance to the story/characters. It's all text and no subtext, which to me just smacks of clumsy, lazy writing. In fiction, the author's ego or vendettas should never come at the expense of the work itself, and that's what's happened here.

If Moz had allowed a decent editor within a mile of this book who could have toned down the self-indulgence of the writing then it might have been a half-decent novella. As it is, it feels like the kind of clumsy waffle I would have written when I was fifteen.

What was that silly saying that Steven said about the book release ?

" I'm to embarrassed to be excited or to excited to be embarrassed "

He's so funny isn't he !

It beggars belief, why would a man with no experience of lady gardens/minge has written such nonsense ?
He should stick to his silly slang between him and the boys in his 'gang' if he wants to have a successful writing career.

"If Moz had allowed a decent editor within a mile of this book..."

I don't know if this is already old news to the users of this site, but according to the latest issue of the British satirical magazine, Private Eye, List of.. was edited by Helen Conford, to whom Morriseey dedicates the book to. Apparently she also has a hand in "editing" Autobiography.

Not very good at her job the, is she...?

I know a top agent who had to choose between representing a stunningly good debut novel or a ghost written novel by an ex soap star. No guessing which one he opted for. United Kingdumb indeed.
