Morrissey interview in the 'Legends' issue of 'Loaded' (Feb. 2013), out tomorrow

Re: Article: Morrissey interview in the 'Legends' issue of 'Loaded' (Feb. 2013), out

Yeah - he's always been this way in interviews. I think the trouble is, when he was younger and in the Smiths it seemed amusingly arch, and his working-class background was still in reach. Now he's older, the words haven't really changed, but he seems like a moaning old man living in an ivory tower thanks to his decades of wealth induced isolation. Most people tend to turn into caricatures of themselves as they reach a certain age, and this seems to have happenned to Morrissey.

The other issue is that, when he was younger, he was the singer in the Smiths and in many interviews, Marr also contributed diluting the impact of Morrissey's extremism. Also, back then, they were putting out amazing new songs every few months so you could more easily ignore the unpleasant comments.
Now, Morrissey has no-one to reign in or dilute his foolishness, and he's only putting new songs (which are, relative to the back catalogue, of an extremely poor quality) out every couple of years. The net effect is that he's now looking increasingly like an absolute idiot who's also incapable of producing any decent music.
