Morrissey Ranks His Most Iconic Canceled Performances -- The Hard Times (satire)

I was canceled on one and a half times. I found out about one of the cancels the most unusual serendipitous way, I still dont believe it.

How many for you?

Christ almighty. Satire can be hard to do but that's a *terrible* attempt. Quite a funny concept (ranking his favourite cancellations) but the execution of it...ugh.

One and a half for me as well. First was a show in LA around the Vauxhall time frame 93-94. I think there was one show in LA and on in New York. I drove from Fresno to LA to buy a ticket from a broker to get a close seat. I was deployed in the Navy and the show was supposed to be the weekend after I returned. I got home to frantic messages from the broker and I had to drive back to LA to get a refund. LAME. Moz claims he never agreed to those shows.

The worst though, for me, was the cancelled show in Vegas, cancelled the day of. We flew from San Diego, total ballers. Showed up to the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, Moz fans everywhere. Went to will call for tickets. I didn't believe the lady at first. Did not compute, what do you mean its cancelled, I flew here! Lol. Wasn't a bad town to be disappointed in though.

I was at that Vegas show. It was cancelled as they were opening doors.

I remember that although I don't remember tickets actually going on sale for the LA show. The place he was going to play would've been a great venue - saw Jane's Addiction play there a few years later on the Relapse tour.

I can't quite remember what venue it was going to be. Wasn't it a boxing arena or something like that?

I was one along with a friend. Lived in Vegas at the time, and I believe an injury to Alain's arm was used as the reason. Then I believe the rescheduled concert ended after a few songs due to a fight breaking out. Mandalay Bay is a great casino and Hof B a great venue for bands.

I think it was a back injury to Alain. We also had tickets to see him a few days later at the first Coachella and were stressed about it. Internet wasn't quite what it is today, no way to know for sure if he'd play Coachella or not. Funny, now having a 15 year old who is obsessed with Coachella. I told oh ya, I went to the first one. Only went to see one band and left after that. It was like I said I went to the original Woodstock.

I had tickets for the L.A. and NYC shows in 1994 that were cancelled. Supposedly, he didn’t know about them?

Oakland 09'....had just arrived at SFO, check this site...cancelled. Moz was spotted later that night at some cabaret show in San Francisco.

Warsaw '14....Cancelled 6 songs in, you know the story. A guy I was talking to in the line before the show was telling me the last times saw Moz was the Liverpool gig that lasted two songs. He did a shade better that night.

Manchester '18...Two at the Castlefield bowl.

Four (or 3.5) in 35 years, Smiths included. Not too bad.

The NYC show was scheduled for Carnegie Hall. I had tickets for the show in hand. In fact, I still have them hidden somewhere. At the time I recall hearing The Ramones and Echobelly were both going to be announced as opening acts.
