Morrissey/Smiths Fans in Tehran/Iran

Are there Moz fans out there?

Lots of us Morrissey fans out here in Europe and the US would like to make contact with Smiths obsessives, to find out what is going on out there, and to support you if we can.

Feel free to email privately.

Does anybody know of any online Iranian Smiths/Moz fan pages etc?

I think some stuff is getting out.

I just thought that we, as Moz fans, ought to be seeing what we can do to throw other Moz fans in Iran a lifeline.

Does anybody know anybody who might know? There have been a few Iranians posting here over the years - I'm worried for them.

there is a documentary on bands in iran persented in a recent film festival and shows how many bands are not presenting themselves online so they dont get to know the bands showing shoewing a variety of music styles .(director: Arash Sobhani: title:No One Knows About Persian Cats )
arash is marrried to Roxana Saberi, the U.S.-Iranian journalist who got held by iranaian government.
one interview:http://omidmemarian.com/tag/arash-sobhani/

...the population of young peopele is quite big in iran ( the youth populationof is oneof the biggest worldwide compared to the age bracket in other counties where older peopel are the biggest percentage of the society) so im sure some moz fans are there in this country...
obviously jhis appeal is worldwide..russia, latvia. turkey, israel, indonesia....
ive read an german article that a lot of young iranians travel across the border(by train)* to turkey so they can party more freely( esp with genders mixed i.e. if they arent married which is no problem in turkey) so a few of them maybe did go to the istanbul concert
(offtopic: peopel from israel did go to the istanbul concert as well..well unfortunately Uk and US is his most played haunts so fans not from there mostly have to travel to see him)

*this i also saw on a documentary a few years ago

That is very helpful - I'll check out that link and see if I can track down the director.

If I do find Morrissey fans out there, are you interested in helping to support them?

yeah but no morrissey coverbands being showed there on that documentary as far as i know sadly..morrisseys lyrics in persian..would be interesting.
arash`s personal likings of music are rather 60ties based;-).so he might not be aware of moz
interesting there must be a huge underfground sceen if you care to think how many peopel afraid of punishments dont share it online
( or speak too, loudly about their liking of western music in iranian public)
,that arash only detects 99 percent of the bands existing in iran for the docu, as he has said,so there must nbe a a lots more bands arash isnt aware of etc, .saw it in a short feature in a cultural tv show
..thts how i became aware of him (last week)
there was one moz fan orginally from iran , but living in canada right now, who posted a video of th himself talking about moz at youtube( has been removed by now) i became aware of around the time moz suggested that he would like to play teheran on true to you

a bit offtopic. i have learned that peope are more aware of the smiths than morrissey like some germans i have talked too.
or peopele from overseas i met in hostels (shared) rooms for example who have asked why im there..rather heard of the smiths than morrissey

how do you mean..support?
