I don't believe Q exists as a separate entity from the major record labels. It's so obvious the record company bosses write this rag.

Can someone explain to me why this poll is relevant to us individuals and our varying musical tastes? As far as I'm concerned these stupid magazines are a completely different opinion than my own and are willing to kiss the ass of any crappy band. And I don't really understand why the Arctic Monkeys get so much praise.

Oh, I almost forgot... IMO

Apart from the odd exception - Moz, AFX, Plan B - I have to agree that this list is pretty shocking.

After reading this list I am proud to say that I've never read Q magazine.

I still havn't forgiven Q for describing Strangeways as a 'Flawed Classic' saying something like 'Marr's guitar playing has a new depth, but Morrissey's lyrics are clumsy and let it down' that's not a quote, I thew the magazine away in disgust, so I can't remember the exact wording.

shit list, having said that I am surprised how high Moz's album is.

Exactly. Uncut's list was much better, but didn't have Moz in it, Q's list is terrible but does have Moz in it? So what does that tell us?

Anyway, here's Mojo's list, much better than Q's list, if only because it has Moz at number 11!

01 the Raconteurs
02 Dylan
03 Arctic Monkeys
04 Springsteen
05 Archie Bronson Outfit
06 Vetiver
07 Amy Winehouse
08 James Hunter
09 Midlake
10 Cat Power
11 Moz
12 Sonic Youth
13 Cash
14 Scritti Politti
15 The Young Kinives
16 De Rosa
17 The Who
18 Dave Gilmour
19 the Beatles
20 Joanna Newsom

really though, which one do YOU believe was the album of the year??

my personal opinion is that in 2006 there wasnt a big surprise album...

The Scritti Politti album "White Bread, Black Beer" was, I think. Some of the positive press it has attracted has been motivated by sentimentality, no doubt (GG overcoming extreme performance anxiety to return to the stage for the first time in 26 years, etc. )
