What's the deal?

Ok, I have found this many times, and am wondering if it is I that has totally misinterpreted things, so please let me know if so. I see many e-mail addys and posts labeled "Girl Afraid"for a female poster and "Boy Afraid" for males... Shouldn't it be just the opposite? Because in the song, the lyrics, "Girl afraid, where do HIS intentions lay..." obviously state the boy is -girl afraid-. Same with -boy afraid-... Am I correct?
