by Isabel Bussarakum | 07.06.2004, Filter Magazine

Morrissey has been added to the Festival Internacional de Benicassim Heineken 2004 lineup. The English rocker has been confirmed to play on Saturday August 7. FIB Heineken is a four-day festival held in Benicassim, Spain since 1995. The organizers showcase not only music but also cinema, sculpture, dance and other forms of art, beginning with exhibitions during the last two weeks of July. Morrissey is playing along side the likes of Belle & Sebastian, Brian Wilson, the Chemical Brothers, the Dandy Warhols, Felix Da Housecat, Franz Ferdinand, Kings of Leon, Pet Shop Boys, Primal Scream, the Shins, Snow Patrol and many more.

Norwegian television has a review of Morrissey's concert at Roskilde, giving it 8 out of 10 points.

There's also a link in the article (Flere bilder fra Morrissey-konserten!) to 20 pictures from the concert.

Quarry fell from 28 to 41 in this week's album chart despite Moz's Glasto appearance! However, it's now survived 7 weeks in the UK chart, that's two weeks longer than any album since Viva Hate (which managed 20).

First of the Gang has climbed back up the airplay chart to 39 (was at 63 last week) but still not on Radio 1 at all.

FOTG gets a fairly good review in NME but doesn't make single of the week. Moz voted third most disappointing act at Glasto.

Pat Reid's long-awaited book on '80s icon Morrissey is now available. Go to this link for a look at the rather lovely cover.

Pat comments: "It took us so long to finish the book that the unthinkable has happened and Morrissey is fashionable again..."

There will be a launch party for the book at Bristol's Il Bordello on Tuesday 13 July, from 8pm. Admission is free and all are welcome. Pat will be reading from the book, signing copies and playing Smiths/Morrissey music and groovy related sounds (from the New York Dolls to Franz Ferdinand) all night. Special guests to be confirmed. Il Bordello is a bar on a boat on Welsh Back, opposite the Premier Lodge. Further details: www.ilbordello.co.uk

Kenny Lane (coverstar of Southpaw) was on ESPN2 last night. He trains a light heavyweight (Rocky Smith) I went to high school with. There was something in the local paper about how he occasionally comes out of retirement to publically beat someone up (last, 1983 in a Catholic high school gymnasium).

The only related story is those kids he (Rocky Smith) went to high school with that killed all the people and the only footage the local news could find of their 'rock and roll band' was a videotape of the kids performing "Bigmouth."
