More on the Dresden cancellation - venue unsuitable for performance

From Scott Shelley:

I just spoke with my wife, who is currently following Morrissey through Germany, and she assured me that the venue was completely unsuitable for Morrissey. In fact, she remarked that it didn't much look like a venue at all. There were no stage lights, and the stage was STILL BEING BUILT when they arrived this afternoon. Perhaps it's true that very few tickets were sold, but even if the show sold out, this show was never going to take place.

From Disappointed Lifeguards:

It's official now: the tickets for Dresden are valid for the
show in Leipzig (Luna-Park - NOT House Auensee as
posted!!)
I don't know if it makes any difference or not - that's what we've been told in Dresden.

Leipzig is tomorrow night. Ticket scan of tonight's Berlin concert from Christian Kirchberger.

It seems there was a logical explanation after all. But I bet it was a convenient way out of having to perform for only 200 people. There is no way his booking agent knew that the venue was going to be unprepared like that. And saying it was the meat thing fits perfectly with Mr. Morrissey's persona and antics as a true star.

I wonder if I could trick them into booking a show in my basement?

Well, anything is possible provided you have M's $40,000 per concert booking fee in your back pocket. That would be one hell of an intimate show though. You'd get a perfect view from atop the spare fridge. Plus, you'd make nearly 5% of your money back on beer sales.

to shawn

40,000 dollars..i think not

just as an example..
santa barbara had less than 800 people there at aprox.. 25.00 per ticket...20,000 dollars, minus expenses... the venue split, sound, security, food, accomidations, travel, band members, staff members etc..this tour is "out of pocket" no one is paying for any of it...the only show maybe even close to that figure would be coachella... morrissey is probably making barely anything at all...which goes to how that he is touring because he wants to play, and not for money...

I think the place wasn´t that bad at all !
A bit dark maybe, dirty, o.k. but no reason not to play nor to cancel the gig just a few hours in front of the beginning !

guilty or not, MOZ now has to handle his lack of popularity .

It looks like Morrissey needs to have new management again. Anyone who books six dates in Germany must be completely crazy, and then in such awful locations in Hamburg and Dresden... Thanfully he is leaving the damned country tomorrow and on his way to the much nicer 013 in Tilburg.
See you there (don't forget about the afterparty!)

I once tricked Morrissey into playing a show in the glove compartment of my car. I sold about 2000 tickets to the show, but then Morrissey had found out somehow that I had once placed a roast beef sandwich in there, and he said "No way am I going to play in that glove compartment; If it had been some cut carrots or perhaps a potato or two then I would have done the show despite the leather upholstery leading to the entrance."

This is not lack of popularity. This lack of common sense on some people's part!!! If people were true fans and didn't make evitable stupid remarks, they would sign their real name and state relevant arguments, dear Buck-toothed and Warren. But nevermind...

THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO LOVE YOU MORRISSEY!!!!!!!!!!!

Helena: Do you type your comments from atop a hilltop in Lisbon with the wind blowing through your hair and a Morrissey t-shirt on and a lil' boom box that is playing "Last night I dreamt that somebody loved me?" Just wondering. I love Morrissey (and The Smiths too), but I also have a sense of humor in regards to his antics as a star (that star may be falling if he doesn't get in the studio and get off this ridiculous tour he's on). If you want to pick on somebody, I think you are on the right track with Warren and also maybe write a comment to James, the resident expert on butt plugs. And by the way, I really am a buck toothed girl from Luxembourg, but I'm too embarrassed about that to put my real name.

to the person that posted message #6 here,

you state there was less than 800 people at the santa barbara show!?!?! what show were you at buddy?! it seemed there was at least 800 people at the front where i was at, lol. it was a sold out gig and from what i read on this site, the venue has about 2000 seats. so 40,000 bucks asking price for moz to play seems about right, i think.

I would like to apologize to anyone that hasn't enjoyed any attempts at humor that I've made. I'm going to stop posting comments for quite awhile. I seem to have a problem with writing comments that are funny to some (mainly myself), but are inappropriate for this site. I am an avid Morrissey/Smiths fan and I believe that the site has changed and needs to return to a site where the users have integrity and respect for each other. I didn't realize that my writing could affect this site so much. We need to start posting comments about Morrissey and not about each others comments or opinions. Is Warren boy/MAN enough to join me on this? Anyone else feel the need to stop posting nonsense? I'm serious about this. Please respect my name and do not post anything under my name as I am serious about stopping my comments for awhile. I will be a spectator for the time being.

Garrett, aren't you mistaking buck tooth with Warren? Buck tooth has never mentioned anything about the topic of gayness. You seem extremely paranoid and maybe it's time you take a time out like buck tooth has so wisely decided to do.
