So much of what I hear on radio I hate: Avril Levene, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Nelly, Ja Rule, any techno covers of Bryan Adams songs, etc. etc.

I agree that there is so much trite musak prevalent today.I was going to say "chart" but,as is glaringly apparent from one look at the UK chart,it is obvious that it is filled with short-shelf life,homogenized nonsense like:

Avril Lavigne - Faux Alanis alleged teenage rebel "rock" posturing
Blue - Don't get me started with this
Westlife - Tedious quintette plying recycled Westlife tracks ad infinitum.
Fatboy Slim - Now here is a "DJ" who seems to make a lot of money from looping vocal samples ad nauseum.The dance music equivalent of a car alarm.

So much to list,so little time. It is the presence of this type of "noise" that makes Morrissey minus a record deal,seem all the more unjust.
I take great pride in realising that a large proportion of material in my record and CD collection never really achieved "chart" success.

The music industry these days is all about packaging up old music in new ways to sell to younger people not aware of the originals (cf Atomic bloody Kitten), or dressing up bland old toss in a complete image package and selling it on the strengths of that (where the music is an extension of the perceived lifestyle).

I really loathe these "Pop Idols" people. Don't people realise that all they're doing is watching karaoke, albeit sung in a technically proficient way? Where's the song writing talent? Where's the character? These are empty, if pretty, vessels.
Let the end come soon, and let it be painful.
