I think both points made are valid: don't rush to judgement, and don't be a sheep. It IS possible to do both at the same time, however!

I remember when "Friday Mourning" came out (I could harp on and on about how incredible that song is forever), I LOVED it instantly. However, there were lots of people posting on the message boards immediately after its release about how they hated it, hated the production, blah, blah, blah. Now I don't know a single person who doesn't like it. "All the Lazy Dykes" is another example -- I felt very ambivalent toward it -- now it's one of my favorites on Quarry!

In trying to not be a 'sheep,' it's also important not to immediately run to the other side of the spectrum either. I think 'in total agreement' is right about one thing, though -- the first impression is very, very important. But it's not everything.
