May I suggest you revise the history of the 20th century.

"Sham" of Iran, was a play on the word "Shah" that well known puppet controlled by the USA. The Iranians however, disagreed with his brand of corrupt government and Ayatollah Khomeni replaced him. Your lot then decided Saddam was their best friend in the region, who took up arms against his neighbour.

Anyway, the rest is history shall we say.
