ZOOM FROM GLOOM
LASCIATE OGNI SPERANZA!
With two different finished mixes, and Morrissey talking about it in an interview at the time, this was
definitely at one point considered for release, maybe only as an album track when Bona Drag was in the works as a proper album. Thinking that when Bona Drag as a album (not compilation) was scrapped, so was Striptease. Of course it should have been a b-side, it really is a mystery why it wasn’t.
With the piano and bounce, it might have sounded too much of the same along side Palare, which is maybe why it wasn’t used as a b-side on that single.
Maybe with all the pressures for an album by the label, plans for touring, needing a band, it, like many songs were just
put aside.
Such original lyric, and love the sitar(?) like sound, can be heard better on the second (less piano) version.
