Pomona Roll Call

Heard there were 30 people there @ noon today. There's an early entry/cocktail thing going on before doors, so I envision a massive clusterfcuk with the order of the queue. Plus there is a certain dodgy segment of the Hell A. fanbase that will not respect the order of the queue.

I'm not gonna be the pot calling the kettle black when it comes to this icon , but I'm sitting this one out. If it's on, I'll go but not queue.

I have dreamed of Moz playing Pomona @ the Fox for years and I would hate for so many Mozlovers to be disappointed, but deep in my heart I'm hoping he cancels Pomona.

My uni is just around the corner from the venue, and I want to eat at Happy Family in Rowland Hts, so I'll be in P-town in the daytime on Monday. I might also go for a swim @ the YMCA down the street -- my school gives me free membership to the Y.

Dodgy Hell. A Fanbase that don't respect the queue indeed. This, and the cocktail thing are things that have screwed me over big time before. So I think I won't queue too early this time.

However, I will stop by a veggie restaurant on my way =D.

Welcome to the 9 oh 9, home fries!

I've been jonesin' for Happy Family. Also Veggie & Tea House in San Dimas is worth a look (not everything is vegan but mostly is). I would recommend Covina Tasty for its awesome junk food made vegetarian (Mark's veggie corn dog is a revelation, the crispy corn batter full of unregenerate deep-fried badness that makes me almost weep), but it is not vegan. It's a Tasty Freeze, so it serves dairy ice-cream. Story is that the owner fuct off the corporate Tasty Freeze because he substituted the meat items with veggie items because he himself is vegetarian.

Postgig, I'm thinking of going to Aladdin's for hummus and falafels. It's really rich with generous amounts of tahini. I'll call to see if they'll be open late on Monday night. If not, then it's bean tostadas at the 24 hour Hell Taco (Del Taco) on Garey by the 10 fwy. I thought it was Aladdin's, but some Middle Eastern restaurant had written HOMOs instead of hummus or hommous on their menu. Really? You can get homo's with pita bread? Who knew Pomona was so swingin' after 10pm?

You know, if you want to get onstage to hug Mozzer, it's actually better not to be up front at the barrier. First off, security will see you and will be looking out for you. Secondly, you'll be so jammed up against the barrier that you'll be hard pressed (hur hur) to stand up straight, let alone launch yourself towards the stage. It might be better to crowdsurf up or sneakily run in from the side. Just don't choke El Mozzer or force your tongue down his throat like this dangerous beastie did:

That was SO horrible..

People already lined up? Seriously? No respect for them; it's people like that that make the whole experience miserable.

Interesting...why does it make it miserable for you?

Those that have queued up since Sat nite - Sun morn just want to be at the front...that's all.

Btw...it's cold and drizzling now at the Fox. Yes, we are  !

What's the story behind that picture? Anyone want to let me in on that? ;)

Short version here.

Am awake but still lying in bed. I've had a cold since Thursday. Will probably get up and drag my sick ass over around noon.

I haven't seen what it looks like outside, but the sound of water outside makes it seem like it's pouring on the west side.

Several mostly reliable sources have been saying since Sunday morning that the Pomona show is on..which leads me to suspect that Moz wasn't really all that ill but really did not feel like playing at another Indian casino. Good! I was dreading the smell of stale ciggy smoke there. Most vile! But I keep hoping that Pomona will be canceled even though it's also my dream to see him play there at the Fox.

The rain pours down on this humdrum town...

seems a little silly. If you don't feel up for it, then just don't go. Why wish for others to be inconvenienced, bummed, and out of time, money, and energy?

anyone know where the good antique stores are in pomona? i hear there are loads. i'm jonesing for some old time bling. :thumb:

have fun tonight everyone!

be nice to each other. no stabbings , no shovings, no farting.

That whole part of 2nd St. in the arts district is full of antiques shops. It used to be a dump, but I guess they have cleaned that whole area up. In the mid 90's, they used to call that street "rave city" cause they would shut it down many a Saturday night to host massive raves that were in the street and in 4-5 of the buildings there (the Fox included). I ended up in a building one night where they were spinning hard trance, and I picked up a book that was on one of the benches we sat on, and it was a Bible-we were in a Latino church! Pomona's a f***ing weird town... I should know, I was born there (never lived there though, thank Jezus.) Kinda wish I were there tonight, in a weird vortex type of way.

I know. I already said in another post that I would hate to see other M-lovers put out. Friends of mine have been queuing since yesterday. I only would laugh heartily at one person in the queue if it were to be canceled. I'll admit it -- I'm not above childish glee and schadenfreude.

If I went down to the venue to sell my ticket, I'd be there already and might as well go in, so I'll just go. Also, I've been asking for Moz to play in Pomona for years, so I'm obligated to go.

Oh, thanks for that. Boy, how embarrassing...

Because I don't want to wait in line for two bloody days! I want to be in the front as well, and I do queue...but I hate it. I find it hard to believe anyone enjoys it either. And its people who lined up the other day that make it crappy like that. There's really no reason to have to do that; but they make it so.

Indeed, I have been to Covina Tasty. However, a lot of their stuff isn't vegan, so I couldn't indulge in the corndog or chili dog (which is actually what I drove there for.) I'll probably stop by that place in West Covina called One World; I went there yeeearrrs ago and remember it being really good, so, interested in trying it. Annnnd, Taco Bell > Del Taco. Fer sure.

Well, I've tried the crowd surfing thing and that was less successful than being up front. It's just gotta be timed right. Either when someone else tries and security is tied up, or when Mozzer's at the side of the stage I am so he can try and pull me up, and if not, I'll atleast get a handshake out of it =). I need a big burly man to just toss me! :lbf:

I don't think anyone likes queuing (especially in weather like this!) but it's all what you make it to be.

It's going to be a great show...I can't wait!

Venue said it's officially SOLD OUT!!!

DATK facebook:
Just arrived at Fox Theatre in Pomona. It's pissing it down here, apparently the first time it's rained since April...

I love queueing. In fact, sometimes I don't even watch the show. I just stay in the queue indefinitely.

Nice. :lbf:

Oh, since you don't have tickets to Ventura anymore, would you please queue in my stead?
I'll check in before the doors open. PLEASEEEE!
