Strange/unexpected Moz references?

A nice Morrissey/The Smiths story from James on Jo Whiley’s Radio 2 show.
Can you say more?

Moz is no. 41 on Hilary Duff's birthing playlist

I don't know when this podcast episode was recorded, but Ian Anderson mentions Morrissey from 1:21:58

Dan Jones, popular historian of English history, has two possible Morrissey references in chapter 13 (“The Tower”) of his 2009 book Summer of Blood, about the 1381 Peasants’ Revolt: “And the ringleader of these tormentors was a man with whom Sudbury was intimately acquainted - John Ball.” and, one page later, “But now Ball was loose and Sudbury was the quarry.”

There's a story about Detroit rock group Sponge covering songs for a 30th anniversary and possibly including one by Morrissey:

Sponge fetes 30 years and 1994 | Features "The collection will feature songs by Sonic Youth, Blur, Danzig, Mazzy Star and Morrissey. Dombroski said Sponge is considering adding Morrissey's "The More You Ignore Me, the Closer I Get" to the set list for this tour, or Blur's "Girls & Boys." .."

Then rehashed in to another new colour vinyl via Casino Records:

A brief Moz-mention in a long essay by the esteemed theorist Terry Eagleton, in the current issue of the London Review of Books.

A fascinating essay, and something for some reason, we keep needing reminding about. Same for AI, according to the Operaismo movement people - "...the inner code of AI is shaped not by the imitation of biological intelligence, but the intelligence of labour and social relations..." http://matteopasquinelli.com/the-eye-of-the-master/

a not so unexpected, but also not a derogatory mention, in an article about Robert Smith's 65th birthday.

(It's hard for me to tell if this portion of the interview is current or from a 1989 Disintegration era interview.)

"...I was again talking with Smith- who turns 65 April 21 – and made the leap that perhaps The Cure’s singer-songwriter-guitarist, had hit bottom again. But no.

“I loathe the Morrissey kind of wallowing in despair,” Smith said, referring to the former singer of The Smiths (no relation). “It’s too easy. You have to tone down that side of your character if you’re with other people. I wouldn’t expect to have any friends left if I let myself go and I wouldn’t deserve to have. I don’t find it very entertaining to be around somebody who’s morose all the time. So, there is a line to be drawn. In the privacy of your aloneness, you can act however you want. Look, I don’t think I feel any more deeply than anyone else or despair any more than anyone else. So, I find it, in a way, compromising to try and pretend that I do.”

This is one of the most honest rock ‘n’ roll quotes I’ve been privy to. The artist separating his off-stage self from his art or his on-stage (or on record) projections, that is, what we think he’s like. And admitting the depths of his emotions – up or down – are no more profound than your own...."

gonna guess it’s from an old interview.

I could understand how it could be comprising, but why does Bob think he needs to pretend that he feels any more than anyone else?
