the current controversy about jade et al. and the, supposed, racism being shown by some of the participants is really, really, really getting on my tits.
to those who are making such a show of their "outrage", i'd simply suggest that they get off their collective arse, turn off their television for a bit, go outdoors and f***ing do something to confront actual racism and racists, in the real world, instead of gossiping about some celebrity non-entities on a trivial t.v. programme and trying to dress it up as political activism.
f***ing dicks.
stop picking on kickstand...he's well cute!
I saw him first. HANDS OFF
I thought you were a boy?! or are you a girl? or a friendly boy?
hhehehe
[...]As for Jade she is finished and it’s her own fault [...]
Late 30s??? Ahem. Have you done mathematics?
Fair play to the "lad" he is politically/ sociologically/ environmentally aware. So there. And I agree with some if not most of what he says.
But if you're telling me that certain statements that emanate from his/her/your mouth are not patronising then I, as is my democratic right (oh not that ol' chestnut) will disagree.
Instead of arguing the toss on a website devoted to some 80s pop star with people who are actually old enough to get served in pubs, he should be out and about doing whatever it is the "yoof" of today get up to.... Nicking cars (TDA) or smoking crack and mugging grannies
My excuse is the internet wasn't around in 1884 or whenever it was that I was born.
i agree with much of what you say, but i really don't think that she's brought this situation on herself. i'd say it has more to do with the fact that she has (directly and indirectly) been described as a racist, both, by the mass media [did anyone see the front page of "the sun", today? (f***in' hypocritical c***s)] and by career-orientated politicians.
Sorry, I presumed you were in your thirties and chose late thirties instead of early thirties; either way it doesn't matter does it?
I don’t agree with the usage of the word underclass, in fact I’d say it’s incredibly insulting to people who happen to live in mild or extreme forms of poverty, the word is typically used by upper class snobs who happen to think the world is their urinal and they can urinate on everyone else. That’s probably why elitist snobs such as Blair, Tebbit and Thatcher use the word quite often when speaking about people who struggle to stretch their money. He is however correct that there are people who have suffered from living in a capitalist society, there always will be and he is right in saying there needs to be a stronger sense of socialism in our society. It’s the responsibility of the Governments and those who happen to struggle to help them onto a level in which they can prosper from. That’s not patronising, it's common knowledge, and no person should be left without the bare necessities in life. I certainly wouldn’t spend my days on the Internet, but if it makes him happy then what’s wrong with that? More adults should help educate keen young people like him rather than come down on them and trip them up to gain some sense of victory. That’s my point, he comes across as a person with a lot of strong views, I don’t see anything wrong with this and most people don’t say or type anything worth reading, he does even if his views are different from my own.
What's most interesting about this is the backlash against the furore. People so vehemently denying that racism is playing a part, the anti-PC brigade. Whilst I'd agree that this thing has been blown out of proportion, it does take something as silly as a reality TV show to make people talk about issues in stiff post-colonial Britain. It's just like Jack Straw's comments last year. Debate needs a catalyst.
All I know is, if someone calls an Indian person "Poppadom", it's quite clearly racist. Regardless of how the tension started - whether it was simple jealousy, class war, cultural ignorance - it undeniably has racist overtones now.
I'm not sure, I half agree with you dazzak. But would it be racist if someone called me haggis head? or would I just laugh...
