So true and the importance of that so underappreciated.
Don't you mean since Morrissey got lucky that Marr knocked on his door?
Of course he wasn't the most important member, but I do believe his contribution is massively underrated. As first to die says, his bass playing is woven into the sound of the Smiths. Best of luck to them emulating From the Jam...
Can't wait for this. It's like Ringo, Stuart Sutcliffe and Pete Best decided to reform the Beatles.
Moz inspired Andy.
They should get Sinead on vocals. Seriously.
I thought Ringo wasn't even the best Drummer in The Beatles.except.. Ringo can actually play the drums !
Yeah, he inspired him, for instance, by saying: "Andy, please can you work out the chords to Only to Other People by the Cookies".

Well he did. Didn’t he?
It didn’t ruin the inspiration where ever it came from.
I mean if that is the criterion, you can’t produce any music anymore without being criticised for copying, in these internet times where everything is archived. Everything has been done already even more than once.
To strictly avoid anything that may or not been already done and focus completely on authenticity can push you to the avant garde or the more unknown boundaries of completely improvised Jazz. That is okay but for the specialists. The connoisseurs.
I think Lennon once said that Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the band. They must have all been great drummers !

Really....why. the man sells out venue across the world on every tour ,every lp top 10 in uk,America late night shows begging for him , he loves animals and personaly his music lately is great ,not ready to say his greatest bc of my love for songs like southpaw, girl drowning, this is not your country to name a few but he is ICONIC....oh and unlike other musicians his voice still there. So wake upIf I was Morrissey and half (possibly 3/4) of my old group were playing together I'd feel terribly restless. If it's not love, then it's the hate that may bring them together - and he has plenty of that.
True.
He was a very good bass player and I still believe he is.
And, more important to me, he was the musical composer of two great Moz songs:
“The Girl Least Likely To”
and
“Yes I Am Blind” which for me is still an icon of a song. Timeless and never ever to be forgotten.
For some reason their cooperation worked very well and Moz got the best out of Andy Rourke as a composer.
Moz inspired Andy. There could have been more great songs. There was something promising about those 2 songs.
It’s unfortunate for both it could not be continued but more unfortunate for Andy Rourke as I don’t know any other compositions from him that were that great after those. I mean not as inspiring.
Sigh.
BINGO!What is truly wonderful about this thread is that absolutely nobody has the slightest f***ing clue WHAT it is, yet here everybody is, blurbling on at the proverbial mouth. Wouldn't it be wonderful if it turned out to be something like a one month special event where they do music lessons for disadvantaged youths at the Salisbury steak boys club?
"Oh yeahr, What I meant to say is what a bunch of top blokes, giving back to the kids and that."
