"Welcome to the Armpit Theatre"

Looking at Mozzer's tour schedule I see that he's next appearing at the Universal Amphitheatre - which reminds me of the sketches in the old radio shows 'Round the Horne' (from which Morrissey must have got a lot of the Polari etc). A regular in the series was a spoof drama indtroduced as "Armpit Theatre Presents".

I'd love Morrissey to say "Welcome to the Armpit Theatre!"

Does anyone know if Morrissey was into Hancock as well? I can see a lot of the dour deadpan humour of Hancock in Morrissey.

Hancock was a genius!
I would definitely think Morrissey was a fan.

Did you ever see that film where he was an artist/sculptor, it was hilarious.
I rememeber one scene where he was taking questions from the Press and he was asked
"Do you prefer to use a brush or knife ?(palette)
Hancock replied "It depends if I'm painting or peeling an apple"

I only wish I'd taped it.

You can probably get it on DVD. Yes, it was great.

I love his half hour programmes. There was one where he was just stuck in a life for the whole episode. Bottom copied it when they stuck Rik and Ade up on a ferris wheel for one of their episodes.

Yes I'll have to try and get it.
One of the funniest films ever.
I think it was called "The Artist", Irene Handl was his landlady.
The bit where the statue he sculptured fell through the floor was funny and then he had it shipped over to Paris.
Sorry rambling now, it just makes me laugh thinking about it.
Oliver Reed was in it too as a French painter.
His half-hour progs were brilliant, I agree.
I remember watching them as a kid.
Oh memories....where did the years go!

Oh, I'd put my housekeeping money on that genius quote.

Have you got your tickets for Round The Horne revisited? I should be going to see it at the Lowry next month.

The film was called 'The Rebel' and I know it was out on VHS a few years back, so may be available on DVD now.

It was on Channel 4 very recently, it's also available on DVD, I seen it in HMV on a double DVD with one of his other films, I think it was called The Wrong Box.

I need to pick up a bread pudding from Birmingham
